Dancing to Late Spring in the Spring

This clip was improvised in May of 2020. I am dancing to Late Spring by Mitski- in the spring, I do love a theme. I was still suffering from Covid impacted lung capacity and missing my family. My body was feeling softer and disconnected to dance. A sunspot appeared in my living room and I decided to soak it up. It helped.

An Improvisation

This is a clip from an improv I was researching pre pandemic. I was trying to figure out if I wanted to make art about my dad’s illness- I decided not to. I’m listening to the song All my Life’s a Circle by Harry Chapin and rolling out some angst. It felt great.

Video of Consent Exercise

Password: Coriolis

In this video you see the “no words” version of the consent exercise, between a Dancer and Musician. This serves as the opening to “A Duet with Recent Past” which is a section of my work in development  īs, a dance-concerto. Up until the 2 minute mark, they both respond with “Yes,” at which point you’ll notice the dancer walk away.

The song "Wide Open Spaces" has always inspired me, it both reminds me of home and my journey to finding Seattle and Coriolis Dance. Here I juxtaposed words from the song along with my own thoughts on my hometown.
