The Abyss (chapter 13)

Despite three weeks almost having passed in the blink of an eye with his new schedule, he still counted down the minutes as Ectoplasm walked around the classroom full of scribbling.

The lipless hero in his pitch black costume eventually stopped to look over the mathematical proof he had completed ten minutes ago, speaking in a deep baritone. “Impeccable as always, Kayama.”

The Abyss (chapter 12)

Nobuto could admit that going to his sister’s Hero Agency first had been a mistake. All it did was get him heckled by her boy toys, each of them so smug about it, too.

He was feeling petty enough to leave all four of them seeing creepy, crawling things for the next few hours.

Arriving at her apartment next, he found the door unlocked and Nemuri bundled up in a blanket as she watch...

The Abyss (chapter 11)

“Your hand’s changed,” Nejire commented as they were taking the train to Osaka to attend Sir Nighteye’s funeral. She was holding his free hand firmly as she traced a finger along his palm.

He glanced at her from the anatomical text he was reading. “The Quirk Factor was based around his hands, so it makes sense.” The past few days had seen the awkwardness gone anyway as he’d ...

The Abyss (chapter 10)

One moment he had been helpless as the League of Villains stood over him under the midday sun, and the next he found himself sprawled on a cool floor in a dark room.

It was all disorienting, and annoying.

Overhaul had expected Shigaraki to kill him, and he had to assume that he’d been turned into a marble by that prancing jester to prolong it. That was the difference between them....

The Abyss (chapter 9)

He stared blankly at the monitor as Enkh-Altan’s clawed hand tapped a heavy beat on the other side of the room by the window. The house would have been as silent as the grave otherwise, its residents on vacation.

“It still feels wrong just waiting here like this,” his friend commented.

“I know,” Nobuto replied softly.

With the two strikes he already had on his licens...

October Monthly Prompt

Five's a good number. I think you'll quickly see that they all have a similar theme.

1. The Not-So-Vengeful Spirit

The house by the river had been abandoned for a century or more, and there was more than one tale about how it was haunted by the vengeful spirit of the woman that had lived there before her husband had supposedly drowned her. Well, he lost a bet an...

The Abyss (chapter 8)

Bent over the screen plastered with articles about the rise of the Shie Hassaikai across a dozen tabs, Nobuto felt like things were finally beginning to make some sense, maybe. It had been something Mirio had mentioned to him earlier, but it had since taken on a life of its own.

It wasn’t like he had anything else to do anyway, seeing as the Safety Commission decided to place not one bu...

End of September Update

The tiebreaker has ended and the winner is Solomon/A Song of Ice and Fire. Downloading the results this time showed no inconsistencies. I will begin dropping the chapters for it sometime soon, starting with the Leviathan tier and going down in order until its public release.

I don't have an exact date for when I will be holding a similar poll for what will be the third story to be put on ...

The Abyss (chapter 7)

The sound of an alarm interrupted his typing, the clock striking 7:30.

Tapping the screen to quiet the alarm, Nobuto eyed the maybe twenty missed calls from his sister with some exasperation. His other two problems currently experiencing a drought of ideas, he had decided to tackle the essay first. He'd given himself the idea for what to write about a few nights back while staring at the ...

The Next Story Tiebreaker

Despite it looking like ASoIaF had won, downloading the results showed a different story.

The Abyss (chapter 6)

There were already changes happening at U.A. by the time they had arrived sometime around noon, Nejire still pointedly holding his hand. A vast quantity of concrete was shifting along an empty part of campus under Cementoss's control, slowly creeping upwards and solidifying into buildings that he assumed would be the new dorms.

The walking block of cement himself gave them a smile as they...

The Next Story

It is time. Three options!

A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones

Solomon (not his legal name) was a stage magician in the good ol' U.S. of A., and while he wasn't the best in the business by any means, he made enough to get by. At least until someone shot him. Yeah, he wasn't expecting that one. Who would?

He didn't know what he was expecting a...

Mid September Update

Added a scene with a certain someone's parents at the end of the fifth chapter. Also set up the next chapter somewhat, which I will be dropping on Friday.

I'll also be dropping the details on the vote I will be setting up soon, the one deciding which story will be added to the roster next (The Abyss will likely be taking the Thursday slot). You can look forward to that later tonight.

The Abyss (chapter 5)

Nobuto gave a deep sigh as the water, almost scalding, poured over his skin, washing away all the dust and the grime that had stuck to him. It didn’t hurt that this was one of the few times his Quirk was quiet, nothing to excite it but the steady drop of the water.

It had already been a hectic past few days, but the past few hours had put that all to shame.

All Might had won, but ...

The Abyss (chapter 4)

“Do I even have to ask if you tampered with evidence?” Detective Tsukauchi asked, his already cramped office even more cramped with them in it.

Nobuto returned an easy smile to the straight-backed older man, maybe in his mid-to-late thirties. “No need. I admit it. Though it wasn’t technically tampering with evidence,” he commented. “I only copied it.”

The detective sta...

       Interlude: Midnight at Noon

Nemuri rubbed the bridge of her nose as she listened to her colleagues bicker. It was just the five of them, the others either preoccupied elsewhere or taking a well-deserved vacation like she should be, instead of dealing with this mess.

Her baby brother had well and truly outdone himself this ti...

He leaned back as he fiddled with a pen he'd swiped from his sister's desk, hoping to get on her nerves. She was really taking her sweet time considering his perfectly reasonable request.

It wasn't even like he particularly wanted to join Aizawa's newest victims on their little school trip in the middle of nowhere.

"You're sure about this?" Nemuri finally asked...

Game Plan

First up is a story set in My Hero Academia titled The Abyss. It will follow Algernon, or Nobuto Kayama, a student at U.A. in Class 3-A. Nobuto's the younger brother of Midnight, and his Quirk isn't what it seems. I am very much looking forward to the speculation.

EDIT: I now have those summaries for the next story up, alongside a poll available to all tiers.
