Update from a hike...

I took my first vacation in a long while, completely in glorious isolation for 5 days. Here's an update from the trip.

RPG update, on a Friday!

So no video update today, but this one instead. I've only been working on the huge tabletop RPG project, so I thought it'd be cool to show you how far I've come thus far. 

So here's all the complete, finished pieces. There's going to be over a 100 more pieces, and most of them are started, but are in various states of completion, from rough thumbnail to ready to scan.

Things got a little out of hand with #inktober starting and everything, so I forgot the update.

Inktober/October plans...

So everything is late as per usual, but here's the plan for #inktober, and for the Daily Ink Monsters all through October. You guys get a little preview a few hours before the rest. 

For #inktober I'll be making 31 meditative landscape ink images. I thought I'd go back to basic. Each of them will be accompanied by a few lines of text.

The Rape of Persephone...

The art for this weeks podcast is up, and it is of Hades kidnapping Persephone, alternatively Pluto kidnapping Proserpina, if you're more of the Roman inclination. I really wanna do more with that story, as it has been popping up at random in my life lately.

Friday update #1

In order to keep you guys up to date, I'm committing to doing weekly videos from the studio(now, my cellar), going over some of last week's work. This weeks was very impromptu, but hope you like the format!

Portrait Artist of the Week....

So I did it! I used the #mypaotw hashtag and entered my portrait of Noel Fielding into the Portrait Artist of the Week contest.
I'm definitely not a portrait artist, and I knew that going in. I've done a few portrait sketches,  some ink portrait commissions, and some caricatures, but never anything approaching a fully painted portrait. And let me tell you, it's a completely different b...

Sorry for the sudden lack of updates. The corona-lockdown was over for me last week, with kids back in school/kindergarten, so I decided to take a little break. As above, so below. For some people the whole focus on darkness in art seems strange, like an unhealthy obsession. But it's not about obsessing over darkness.
Whether it's my natural inclination or my bipolar diagnosis, I'm blessed to experience great light, yet spend most of my days in darkness. Creating dark art is not about glorifying the dark, or claiming the dark is equal to the light....

So moving on, what is my main thing? Is it the ink? Is it the brush? Is it the concert art? Is it dark art? Is it variety? Is it self expression? Is it free art?
Thinking long and hard about it, all I do is try to make something beautiful for me. And why do I do it? Because it gives me meaning. Creating meaning through beauty. That's my main.
