Mmm, gotta love anxiety.

This is another page where a lot changed from the original script to the final (as you can see by the thumbnail). Originally, Ainsley's little anxiety attack was just a kind of sidenote -- a quirk of how they were communicating on this page. But it wasn't well delivered by the original at all.

So we reworked the page, adding more anticipation, really hammer...

Sigh............

Whoops, forgot to upload this last week! Have Page 401!~

This whole scene was the product of Ari and I trying to figure out how to handle a couple of important plot points (how are people reacting to Oakewood being gone? How is Belfry handling it? We need to see Ainsley again! and so on) that were originally multiple scenes. Then Ari brought up that these three are...

Omg! Ainsley! It's been a long time since we've seen them. And now they're in their fluffy winter coat. The best kind of coat.

I used a little bit of chromatic aberration on the first panel in hopes of amping the feeling of anxiety just a little bit. Hope it helps! I also am trying a different method of smoothing out the shadows, using a blender instead of a blur. We'll see how I feel ab...

PAGE 400 is done! This also marks the 83rd page of the chapter, which puts it now longer than chapter 3! Also attached to this post is the full size of that photo Oakewood is holding in panel 4!

Tamberlane-Related MS Paint Mouse Doodles

Sometimes when I want to draw something funny from the Foxglove Comics discord, and I don't have a tablet to hand, I just scribble something up in Microsoft Paint with my mouse. The drawings wind up endearingly awful. I hope you enjoy :D

Romantic Sketches

As mentioned in my other post, I wanted to take a break from my big painting today to just do some fun romantic doodles of my husband's and my characters, Amber and Jason.

Redraw of 2000's Art

The last two DWYWF have been spent chipping away at a painted piece, but today I wanted a break. I decided to do some cute romance art of my husband's and my characters, Amber and Jason. While I was doodling, I remembered I had this old art of them from roughly 2000, and wanted to redraw it. I've come a long way in 24 years :)

It seems like Milo has some... OPINIONS.

Another page for ya this week! I'm trying to build up the buffer as much as I can for the moment, because I'm gonna be doing some deep dive doctor stuff soon and I suspect the added stress and busy-ness will affect my health. So! Doing what I can to make a nice comfy cushion of comic pages I can lean on when I need to.

All that to say -- I'm ...

Vent: Fatigue

Man, I've been goin' through it the last few weeks. I've managed to channel energy into getting those Patreon comms mostly off my plate on one of the good days, and the rest of the time I've been chipping away at Tamberlane pages because those are my fun comfort zone. But fatigue sucks and I hate it.

Basically, long story short, I have chronic fatigue which is flaring something fierce rig...

Ooo tasty dribble of Lore~

This was a hard page to nail the dialogue for. Ari and I struggled to get everything laid out, while also making sure to button up the scene as a whole. But we're really happy with how it came out in the end.

As a bonus, please enjoy this snippet of conversation as we try to figure out what metaphor Walter would use for Oakewood:

Cloth Studies

Spent some time today using my study day to practice with cloth! Thank you Shu, Goldy, Rizer, and Frux!

These are examples of the kinds of things you might expect as a $100+ patron when I use characters for studies. They won't always be this polished -- these are overdue "draw what you want" commissions from last year so I figured I'd go a little wild with them. But I wouldn't say these a...

Page 393 Timelapse & Commentary

As you might be able to tell, there were a lot of changes made to the center row of panels as we figured out how to portray what we wanted to portray. I wanted it to be clear that Belfry left, and they have a moment of silence as she leaves, then are free to discuss it. But the original thumbnails didn't quite work out.

I sent 3 options to Ari to decide what worked the best:

Have another page this week! (Note, the japanese is "chu~" which is a kiss sound effect; the russian is милый мой, which is basically a term of endearment a wife might use with her husband. "My darling" essentially)

I have some commentary about this page, but I'm going to save it for the timelapse video I'm about to upload for it. Please look forward to it~

Communication is hard.

As you might be able to tell from the thumbnails, there's a lot of moving around I did on this page. When I do thumbnails I often don't have the backgrounds done yet, so I make a best guess at scene blocking -- figuring out where the characters are in the scene and how they "act." This almost always changes between thumbs and the final page, but this scene in parti...

Greg Tamberlane is a Good Sport

So, funny story. Back in 2020 I got an email from a Greg Tamberlane who was curious why I chose the name, since his last name is very unique. (He also bought all the books because, and I quote, "how could I not?")

Anyway this week, my Google Alerts informed me that Greg Tamberlane got a new position at a bank so I opted to email him with a congratulations and a doodle. Why not?? Life is ...

Gren, a Goliath Druid

Doodling my potential new D&D character, Gren. A young Goliath/maybe half-Goliath? Probably a druid. We're going to be using the One D&D Playtest classes, so I'm waffling between Circle of the Moon and Circle of the Land. Will Circle of the Moon feel robust enough for a physically focused character? Or will I have more fun using Wild Shape as a fun side benefit and focus on spellcasting...
