Working on a new brush set!

Inktober is coming! And with it, a brand new brush set with inks and fineliners and alcohol markers. I wanted to make 31 brushes, for every day of October, but I ended up having 32 (plus blenders and paper brush) and can’t get rid of any one, so there. I hope to finalise and post it very the next week. 😊

I did a lot of test artwork for the set, so here’s a sneak peek!

#Sixfanarts finished!

These are the three characters I picked for the second half: Luna Lovegood, Mollymauk, and, finally, the oft-requested Cat Fëanor! I love him to bits. Silmarillion meets Lackadaisy. 😂

#sixfanarts Patreon Edition

I asked the Jackalope and up patrons to give me suggestions for more of these, and you delivered! Here's the first three, which I drew in the order they came in; the other three I picked from the other suggestions.

On my eternal quest for the perfect pencil, sketching, and lineart brush, I've progressed another step with this one I made, which I’m really loving! I've attached it for yo...

#SixFanarts CritRole edition 2: NPCs

I got so many suggestions for CritRole characters that I went and picked six more for another sheet! Very heavy on the ceMarquet side of things, and six characters I’ve never drawn before, which was great.

J'mon Sa Ord, ruler of Ankh'Harel and a bronze dragon

Lady Kima, feisty halfling Paladin

Captain Xandis, Captain of the skyship "Silver Sun"

Kiri, lost kenku child a...

#sixfanarts: finished!

That was a lot of fun, and extremely satisfying too. In just four hours of drawing, this resulted in one of my best Calebs, Wills, and Vaxes. It’s another of those moments when an art slump is over and suddenly things just *click*.

So we have Liam's characters from all three campaigns ...

#sixfanarts!

Head over to Twitter and give me six CR characters to make fanart of! (Only there, please!) 🥰

Hitting it off with Caleb! To come: Gilmore, Orym, Will, Cassandra de Rolo, and Vax!

Next two.

Finished commission of Snow-white and Red Riding Hood

Here's the finished piece of my first OC commission after a year-long hiatus. How long's it been? Ten years? 🤯

I used my newly-made water edge brush here, which isn’t included in any set, so I’m attaching it if you want it! 😄

I'm really happy with these two, and may open commissions again in a bit! First we need to get our son off to uni safely - we've found a flat in Colo...

*spoilers* Sketchalong C3E105

What a couple of episodes recently! So much cool roleplay, so many epic moments, and the Waylon scene was some of the most hilarious moments I’ve ever seen on Critical Role. Here we have Orym and Dorian at eye level, Dorian's new dragon steed, and Orym’s reaction to it. 😂

Been wrestling with this for the better part of a day, but I'm calling it done now!

"I want you to live"

Orym gets a much-needed pep talk sponsored by Wildmother. I couldn’t pass up the chance to draw Will and Orym made of plants. I did look up a few images of Adele's Faeren for this. 🥰

Some quick and dirty sketch-along-ing for episode 104. Orym fans dined well tonight. Spoilers below:

Orym's relationship with the Wildmother has obviously progressed, so much so that I want to put leaves in his hair from now on, just like in his vision...

End of the holidays, end of the art slump...

... of course. That's a line that would have done well in that Alanis Morisette song.

I introduce to you: Faroukh Far-muharib (whose last name is supposed to mean "warrior mouse", so if anyone knows Arabic and can correct me, go right ahead!), halfling paladin/warlock, and his familiar Roo, a winged jumping mouse. (She uses the template of an imp and can turn into an owl or a jumping spi...

S...ilmarillion Sunday

Some old Silmarillion artwork that a lot of you will probably know, but you asked about it, so here it is!

This was a very prolific streak between 2003 and 2004. Most of these - apart from the one of Maedhros getting captured - were painted in black and white watercolour and coloured digitally in Photoshop. The Captured one was again actual watercolour, and I think I never did that Water...

T...rowback Tuesday XD (some nudity)

So here's some art from That Infamous Drow Phase around 2002-3, which probably happened before most of you had come across me (but I know Adele remembers!) I was trying around with pencil shading plus digital colouring in Photoshop; the last two were coloured in Painter, and I came back to watercolour every once in a while, but often failed at that, heh. A lot of the time, I just left my linear...

Slow times

Hey guys, I seem to have hit a pretty low low - I haven't drawn in about two weeks and nothing really works out. I know that these times pass if I'm patient, and to help me be patient and not feel pressured to produce, I've paused Patreon payments for the month. They'll be back automatically at the end of August. If I manage to draw anything worth showing, be assured I will. :)

Cockatoo

Back home! For the flight back, I painted a sweet little cockatoo. I loved cockatoos when I was a kid. When I was ten, I even got my mum to sew me a cockatoo costume for carnival. Once again, painting during the flight proved to be very relaxing and helped pass the time very quickly.

If anyone’d like to try their hand at this little guy, here’s the lineart!

Relaxing things painted on a plane

I hate flying. I’ve only flown a handful of times in my life and I think I’ll avoid it entirely from now. Yesterday, I flew to Spain with the kids to celebrate the eightieth birthday of my mother, so I couldn’t wiggle out of that one, but I absolutely hate everything about planes, from the security check-in people making you feel like an asshole to being thousands of feet up in the air to...

"Bro, you're huge!” *spoiler ep 98*

Sam's new character Braius, a 6'4'' Minotaur Paladin of Asmodeus, who's been flirting with pretty much everyone of Bells Hells at this point, heals Orym and remarks, "You fought bravely, little one. Are you single?”

Orym: "Bro, you're huge!”

Orym and Dorian really need to get their relationship off the ground before horny Paladins muddy everything up.

Donauweibchen (river mermaid) finished

I cranked up the wet look and water edges another notch for this one. 😁I'm really happy with all the greens!

For Instagram, I’ve already prepared a version with a starfish to cover her very risqué nipple. 😂

Commission: Donauweibchen (Danube Mermaid)

Lineart for a commission for a friend who's writing a paper on the Danube mermaid, das Donauweibchen. Knees on a mermaid, you say? Yes, I say, because it's cute and mermaids are anatomically weird anyway. XD

Summer colouring pages!

Is anyone else as badly in need of relaxing things?* If so, I thought I’d drop some pretty and relaxing colouring pages! I'll come back to these over the summer, too. If you try your hand at these, feel free to share them over on Discord!

A little sample pack

I sat down and put together a little Procreate sample pack for my brushes, and of course that meant I had to see what I could paint with them. (It can be a fun challenge to limit yourself to a handful of brushes you've never used in combination.)

I'm starting to like these little low-stakes, run-of-the-mill watercolour motifs like roses and lemons and feathers; they're really relaxing to...

Full Tutorial: My watercolour brushes

Finally! I spent all weekend on this video and it has been done for two days, but it usually takes InShot about fifty attempts to save a longer video, which I patiently carried out across forty-eight hours. -_-

I'm very proud of this video, which is actually fairly well presented (no succulents though; I killed them all) and full comprehensive AND compatible with all my brush sets! If th...

An unexpected tail

So our RPG characters were rescued from a wrathful Lord of the Hells, teleported to the realm of the goddess Iomedae, who warmly greeted them and restored them all to full health and healing all the conditions like level drains and attribute damage and poisoning and all the other stuff we'd accumulated… and to Jax' extreme embarrassment, he suddenly sprouted the tail that his Paladin father h...

Agnes in watercolour

I finally undertook the project to record a full digital watercolour tutorial, and looking for lineart to work with, I realised Agnes had never got the watercolour treatment, so here we are! I'm already working on the video and hope to have it done early next week.

I've also given some more thought about the project I thought about doing early this year: a colouring book! I had the idea...

Throwback: Snorgwiggle

Well, I couldn't tease Snorgwiggle and then withhold his glory from you, right? This throws us back to 2004 (!), when a friend and I discussed people stealing art along with character names for their own OCs (I hesitate to call them "original") and we talked about what to do about this. (The character in question was my Drow character Jhael, for instance.)

Here's an excerpt from the ICQ (...
