It seems annoying to me to bring on a young character a long way in and make them the focus of the whole story. I don't think I've ever liked a story that chose to do that. So we won't.
But the youth, you know, they can figure out things worth learning... what is it she's got against Maddy, anyway?

A true story: I still try very hard not to put my elbows on the table in any vaguely formal environment, because of the rules I was taught as a lil' guy.
