One of my most requested tutorials at last! Since I spent many hours rendering for my sona's jewellery reference I got some nice progress pics to include as well!
Hope this helps, it's just my way of doing it without a wrong or right method. Throwing random blobs of contrasting shapes tend to do the job real effectively!
