One Line from a Future Comic Taken Totally out of Context
There’s been an explosion in channels where people watch movies, or other things, and react to them. My personal favorite is Cinebinge, because it is hosted by two young Canadians who have three very important things going for them.
1. They seem nice.
2. They seem cool.
3. They are both EX...

I was recently interviewed for the Dabble podcast. Please go check it out, if you like.

It’s strange. I have the sense that there’s a trope where several characters will share a quiet conversation in which they largely speak in oblique, superficially profound statements. I can think of two good examples.
Yes, Missy and I watch the show Alone. And we laugh. A lot. Far more often than—and in places that—the people making the show would never expect. In fact, one of the things that guarantees a lack of laughter on our part is a contestant doing something they are sure is hilarious. That’s always comedy death. But soon enough a contestant will give themselves food poisoning, or accid...

I didn’t set out to have all this Apple hardware.
Actually, that’s not true. If you go back far enough, I did set out to get a Mac, and failed.
Please note: this doesn’t fall under the heading of a first world problem, because it is not, in any way, a problem. I am astonishingly lucky. But life still has its weird ironic quirks, and this is one of them.
Anyway, the first...

It’s true, the Disney corporation is finally building the long prophesied Mecha-Disney.
It’s also true that Walt was adamant that he never wanted so much as a statue of him in his parks.

Yes, I wrote this during the Olympics. Specifically, while watching the BMX Freestyle competition. If you have seen none of it, I suggest you check out the highlights, at least. Yes, I was aware of the X-Games, but the state of the art has progressed since I last paid any attention, and these riders were regularly doing things that caused Missy and I to shout, “What the F?!” in unison.

Look folks, I’ve made over a thousand of these comics now. I’m resigned to the idea that some accidental repetition is inevitable. (Heck, this isn’t even the first time I’ve explained this.)
That said, I was a bit chagrinned when I went back into the archives to make sure I was capitalizing MacraMeyhem’s name properly, and found 2024-08-19 07:00:04 +0000 UTC View Post
I am not a sports guy, but there is a lot I find interesting about the logistics and engineering of Formula One Racing. One of the most impressive facts, in my opinion, is that the top teams can perform a regular pit stop, with a fill up and a change of tires, in two seconds. The pit stops are like a separate sport. There should be a show where each pit stop in a Grand Prix is compared, analyze...

But there’s also one that sort of twists and scrunches from the side....

I enjoyed Godzilla x Kong, but that doesn’t mean I thought it was perfect. Indeed, I found some of its flaws genuinely enjoyable.
For instance, the human characters. The primary team was a scientist, a veterinarian (more on him in a moment), a conspiracy theorist, and someone who could communicate via sign language with one monster, and had a psychic link to another. They were all...

Missy read this comic and pointed out that she’s never seen The Black Hole. My description here doesn’t make her want to rectify that.
In the comic, I’m pretty harsh, but in real life I have a hard time just bagging on movies and TV shows anymore. I realize they’re such big, complex projects that even the worst will have some examples of talented people doing excellent work, even ...

I have no quarrel with vegetarians, vegans, or raw food afficionados. But I do have questions. Lots of (sadly) ignorant questions.
I worked in two restaurants that had salad bars. One was a local family-owned restaurant that did a healthy Sunday after-church brunch trade. The other was a Pizza Hut. Of the two, the salad bar with the most fresh produce and non-processed food items was—by...

I have expressed the idea in panel two to Missy more than once. She always replies that might accurately describe my thoughts, but she doesn’t think “most men” feel that way. She always says “most men,” in a tone that could suggest that she means “normal men.”
I have countered that I’m pretty sure Ric would agree with me, but she seems unimpressed with that argument.

The younger brother of the 2nd Earl of Leicester (Pronounced “Lester”) commissioned a protective hat to wear while riding. His name was Edward Coke (Pronounced “Cook”). The prototype was made by hat maker Thomas Bowler, and that’s why some call it a “Bowler Hat.” Bowler himself, (and the shop he worked at, Lock & Co, which is still open today) called it (and still calls it) a ...

Stealing is wrong, and the thief bears the responsibility, not the victim. That said, the easier it is to steal something, the more likely it is to get stolen, and few crimes are easier that Porch Piracy.
