Xûr for iOS

Hello patrons!

For the past two weeks, I've been developing my first native mobile app! You can read about the entire journey here: https://twitter.com/BraytechHelp/status/1396034792022364161.

I merely wanted pretty Xûr widgets and I developed the app itself after the fact. In any ca...

Guardians! Welcome to May 2021.

This week, I deployed a "Relationships" feature for Clans. It'll tell you who you play with most and common fireteam formations. I've spent more time making it robust than focusing on its design and nothing is set in stone. As you may noticed, I have a spare column. I'm not yet sure what for. 🤔

Additionally, this release sees a past feature rise from its grave: the reports cache. The r...

Thank you

I just wanted to remind you all of how thankful I am for your support. Life has a lot of ups and downs, like, gosh.

That said, I'm super pleased with some of the updates to Braytech that I've delivered, including some experiments (all of the animated transitions - I haven't done something like that before).

That's all.. Just, thank you again

Fixing the broken and shedding some Light on the dark

So, Europa is pretty cool. I'm super tired but I've put this post off for far too long. So here's a summary of what's new and changed;

  • An all new Triumphs view to match the changes made to the game
A beautiful Lore view to accompany it
  • A refreshed Weeklies view
Many modules were made redundant once the darkness swallowed the lost worlds. As a result, it's looking a bi...

Posted a blog

Hello fronds. I've posted a short new blog about the past week-and-a-bit of development that explains how Sync and Search work and some of the motivations behind them.

Blog is on the Braytech homepage.

I started a blog!

I've started a blog at the Braytech home page! I'll mostly be talking about whatever rubbish crosses my mind, so long as it's remotely related to Destiny.

I said it better in my opening post:

Welcome to the first blog post of Braytech. I'll be describing all sorts of things now and into the future and hope that someone somewhere might find something at least mildly entertai...

This Week at Braytech

This week at Braytech, I released a substantial upgrade to the Reports view.

It's improved in various ways:

  • Stat scatter charts
  • Expanded lifetime stats
  • More performant
  • A background refresh timer bar
  • Better on smaller screens

Juicy July

Any meaning to the post title? Nope, I just couldn't think of anything and I like alliteration. Actually, Juice is a really good "bop" by Lizzo.

I procrastinate these posts excessively, because I feel like my patrons are my employers. It's a weird relationship that my mind has fabricated over time, even though the true premise is that you enjoy what I make and want to support my ...

An All New Inspect View

As alluded to in the prior post, I've delivered an all new Inspect view, accessible directly or through the Collections views.

I'm moderately proud of this one; you can preview perks and how they'll affect the stats of an item, including mods. Mods, people.

It also works on mobile and with touch, which was important to me despite the audience being predominately de...

Are you dead?

I am not! It's been x days since we last spoke and I think it's time to briefly break this silence to catch up on each other.

I've been busy, especially busy this past week, trying to update for Season of Arrivals, developing the Content Vault view, and implementing some much needed improvements to the core of Braytech.

I need to get back to keeping some s...

The Service Worker

Hello my loves. Time for another this month in Braytech update.

I've been making lots of little resilience updates to Braytech. All sorts of stuff to prevent and mitigate issues. I've been doing this for two reasons;

  • To reduce the number of errors experienced (lol)
  • To prepare Braytech (production) for re-enabling its service worker

What's a servi...

I've noticed that Braytech's translation contributors ❤ are more outspoken than any of you and there's nothing wrong with that, but I'm keen to remind you all that your feedback matters too.

The Holiday Break

Time is like sand through the fingers of my open hand. Quote me, just now. I'm always startled by long goes between these development reflection posts, although the holiday break does exacerbate it.

It's been a very curious almost-2-months. I delivered customisable Now and This Week views.

I'm still chuffed with myself as it was never a challenge I expected m...

Sustainability

Repost from in-app notification for transparency and posterity. The response has been overwhelming. I can't thank you enough. Numbers are such an abstract concept and even as an amateur programmer, I'm still baffled by any amount greater than fingers on my hand.

Customisable Now view

A customisable yet responsive design - this isn't something I ever expected to be doing or something I could have done [this well] a year ago.

This one put me through the ringer - I was enthusiastic, I felt like a moron, and finally I felt content with my effort.

At the time of writing, it's only available through beta.braytech.org as I'm not yet satisfied with its reliability. That...

Chalice recipes tool

Updates prior to and (especially) Shadowkeep launch severely affected the Chalice tool's functionality and I chose to assign priority to more important items such as basic Tooltips functionality.

With a few weeks left in the season, things have quieted down.

So I put it to you, my generous patrons, would you prefer I continue to work on new features or would you prefer I go back and...

New: Legend

Over the past few days I built and released Legend

It's a tool that you can use to generate infographic images with, about your profile.

There's some themes... And I'm working on more but it's hard goin.

Shout out to my boi JuzCallMeBen for working so hard to vectorise the seal images.

Look, I could copy-paste my change logs but no one would enjoy it, least of all me.

That said, there's been many changes to Braytech since we last congressed.

Many things are completely different either visually, or how they're formed.

We've seen Battle.net go and Steam come.

Braytech 2.5.0 and GitHub Projects

It's been a rough few days down here in Hellas Basin. Bray and I aren't currently on speaking terms, but we're making measurable progress any how (mostly me actually).

I realised early this evening that the reason why I've been feeling so underwhelmed is partly because I'm trying to complete so much at once. What makes it worse is that I forgot I had GitHub to fall back on for ...
