70s to 80s (pg2)
I don't know what to call this yet. I don't want it to be a title that puts people on the defensive. I've considered Integrity... Kirk Speech Ideals... Be Who You Say You Are...
I don't know.
Taking suggestions.
I will probably color it at some point, but am going to focus on getting through it as fast as possible. It's a pointless ...

Hells yeah this is my banner design for Wondercon next weekend!
I am tabling with David Quantic of The Corporeals fame!
The table is in the Small Press area, table SP-008, listed on the map as "th...

Hey there I'm trying something different. I am a visual storyteller, and I think this may be the best way for me to try to reach people and stay sane doing it! Please read and leave suggestions! Thank you very much.
P.S.Seppuku (or ritual suicide through disembowling oneself) was considered the most sincere way to make a statement, i.e.; "I feel so strongly about this that I will kil... 2016-03-17 03:03:35 +0000 UTC View PostHey Droogies! Next week is Wondercon here in Los Angeles, and I will be tabling in the small press area. I'm going to put some fliers together to hand out promoting this here Patreon page, and I'd like YOUR input on what to feature. One side will probably be a version of the "damaged" promo art that I posted previously, but what images from other posts may be good? Answers below. And thank...

Character sketches for the duo with the ball and laundry cart from "Damaged" pg.5 onward.... based on a couple I know in real life.

Suggested by William. I had no idea that the lip scars were deliberate. I had assumed that in a world of scarcity, parched lips and oral herpes were the cause.

The end.
There are a few shorter pieces featuring the Grey Otter... a 2 pager from the Prism Comics Guide a dozen years ago, a color page from the story Steve and I were working on for the Queer Press Grant, and some miscellaneous stuff.
Should I post more of the Grey Otter?

Not an entirely new bit of scenery for me... quite a bit of my new story in the HARD to Swallow Collection takes place at the industrial waterfront/kaiju arena of Tokyo Bay. The icicle plants, pelicans, and sea lions place this pretty firmly in California, though.
I like this page as well, the emotional climax.

I like drawing Dr. Bonito. That said, I have problems with that first panel... I expect to go back in to each page before I print each issue. Some distance from the myopic time spent inside each panel allows me to see flaws that I could not see initially. AND with THAT said, I do like the rest of this page quite a bit.
That's one neat thing about looking at much older work. Starting out pl...

We made the KickStarter stretch goals with over a day to spare!
This means there will be a full color section, which will include a cover gallery, and some color pin-ups I've done of my characters over the years. Now it is truly a comprehensive "Hard to Swallow comics" collection!
Way to go, everyone!
We love ya!
Let's c e l e b r a t e !

I like this page, I like the writing, the flow, and the art is okay too.

Last choice, I promise!
I decided to go ahead and do a bigger run with both black and green for shirts.
But a small-ish print? Or a full sized one?
Originally, I was going to do the smaller one, but now I am not certain...

Steve and I both agreed that we saw the Otter a bit like Spider-man, a wise ass who is hard to hit. I suppose the gay humor would make him a bit like Bugs Bunny, if Bugs were a super-hero.

Looks like we are going with the black shirt, no stroke. Here's 2 options for the branding, which will run down behind the collar in the back.

Continuing from page 2, my first few cons once I was becoming a creator of gay comics. My first SD Comic-con, and first couple of A.P.E.s
This is a detail from the last page I am so close to being done with for my new story in the Hard to Swallow collection. I'd finish it tonight, but I am going to go hit the gym instead, then walk the dog and check out the new "wheel of the worst" from Red Letter Media (my big Friday night plans...

Hey Droogies!
I've done something I always wanted to, and as far as I can tell, it's perfectly legal to do so on this site, 8tracks.com
You might have to join to give it a listen, but it's easy (you can just sign in with your facebook info).
This page is a big "meh".
So I'll talk about something else!
Back when Steve and I were working on our Grey Otter pitch, a guy hit me up on a hook-up site, and I thought it was Steve playing a trick on me. Why did I think that?
The guy's screen name was "Holden Gray". The name I had come up with for the Grey Otter's alter ego was Holden Grey.

It took me a long time to settle on a topic for this piece. I knew I wanted it to be autobiographical, but couldn't decide. Jon Macy suggested it be about interacting with the public at conventions, and what the Prism Comics Queer Press Grant has meant to me. I felt that if I stuck to this and everyone in Alphabet had taken similar advice, it would be a slough of a read. I toyed with excerpts from...

In the bigger picture of the Grey Otter's world, the Silver Fox is the alter ego of a past co-worker of the Otter's alter ego, and figures (naturally) into his origin story. Here we get a glimpse of how he chooses to force compliance from his underlings rather than persuading them to follow him of their own free will.
