Mario 2

I wasn't satisfied with the stiffness of the piece from a few days ago, so I did a faster version and focused more on capturing his smirk. Like the unibrow guy, smirks buried under mustaches are hard to articulate.

Unibrow

Back when I left the Bent-Con team and quit comics for a few years in frustration I did a lot of warm up portraits in sketchbooks, starting with one that took me probably 20 minutes and eventually getting more and more anal about it until it took them hours, trying to get the likeness perfect.
I'm enjoying doing this again, and we'll see if I can keep them loose and quick... at least under an h...

Mario Diaz portrait

A commission I got off of that Michael Hoffman portrait I posted last week. Mario is a club promoter, actor, and singer in a band called "dirty sanchez". We've only met a few times, but he seems as genuinely nice as one can be.
I do feel like I cheated with this one. I tried going through his instagram for a good picture to use, but being an active club promoter this proved difficult. I spent a...

Anger can be power...

I just finished this. Just a flash design I thought up while trying to put being pissed off about something to creative purposes.
So there won't be a comic page tomorrow, and though I did say I would make a comic about why, that's still playing out so I'd better just say it.
I've been on meds for social anxiety and depression for pretty much a dozen or so years almost continuously. More and ...

Tarot Card (judgement)

No comic page today. Instead of explaining why, I came up with the idea today of making a comic about the reason... I will probably have that up in a day or two.

This piece here is part of a group tarot deck for Street Fight Radio, more specifically for their zine, I believe. Out of all the leftist media I found when ...

my own patronage

Hey me Droogies!

I'm aware that each time I become someone's patron, you all get notifications about it. It seems you don't get them when I stop being someone's patron!

I'd love to support everyone I enjoy, but I can't really afford to. I've supported friends with the hope of follow-backs, but except for one in particular (hi, Neko!) that hasn't happened.

I've pledged a d...

I intended to just blow an hour on this but the tattoos always take time. It was probably 2.5 hours

So a few days ago I come across (on Tumblr, I believe) a picture caption with a statement about how this model WAS the poster's favorite until he'd gone too far with his tattoos. I was like, you are kidding, right?
Anyway I made him a muse and am signal boosting his gross, disgusting tatto...

Warm up sketch

I've been into weird ASMR lately.
I used to listen to some amateur porn videos while I drew, just because the sounds fascinated me. Recently, quote by accident, I learned about ASMR and realized that was exactly what I got out of listening to these videos. In no time I was on YouTube looki...

another round of patron level restructuring/simplification

Hey Droogies!

I've been thinking on this, and I believe I am going to once more restructure the rewards tiers. the reasons for this being the reality of what I actually deliver on as far as rewards after a few years of doing this, and because the vast majority of people choose between a couple of tiers, so I should just simplify and offer those two tiers plus maybe a couple more.

I a...

Working from home and homing from work

About a month ago I promised my dog that when I get rich I'll buy a second cintiq so I can work from home and spend more time with him. Then I noticed that my bank had raised my credit limit without my asking. Then a friend reminded me about my promise to my dog... so 1 second hand older model purchase on eBay later and I have a set up at home now!
Now I might never leave the apartment/get any...

Sneak Peek (pg.1)

(Edit: I added a splash before this page 1 which became page 1, and made this page 2. All posts after this have the page number edited to reflect that. )

And here you thought it was never going to happen!

It's happening. Things are on track to have page 1 of Stray Bullet up on Monday.

For those who aren't familiar (or don't remember), while producing full co...

Hey I got a new patron!

One of my favorite fellow artists became one of my patrons last week... I intended to draw him a thank you at the convention last weekend, but forgot my sketchbook!

I know Brad likes burly daddy types. I just drew this guy out of my head, but he kinda looks like my friend Critter might look in a decade or two.

Here's hoping Brad can spare some time from his busy day job and dr...

so this happened...

I was turned on to a short run printer that does very affordable quality work, and doesn't seem to mind adult material (I asked Street Fight Radio who is printing their zine). And the turn around was FAST!

I am so fucking happy with it.

So as a thank you to everyone who has stuck with me during my tenure on Velvet Collar #1, I want to send you a copy! I will also be sending you...

Here's the page I just finished coloring, the ink is still wet ;)

Hey me Droogs, another page to share. There is sex in this comic, though it doesn't linger on it like a porn comic. I'm enjoying that aspect... this could be on a cable television program. I've seen as much naughty bits and simulated sex scenes on GOT.

I'm inking the last 2 pages and then have a dozen to color and letter, then I'm done! woohoo!

Can't wait to do something else for a l...

call for reference

Hey there me Droogies!

I'm close enough to wrapping up this commission to start working on Stray Bullet again. One thing I've come to appreciate with this project is working from actual reference... most of the characters are actual people, or meant to look like particular ppl.

I think I'd like to do more of this, and I thought it would be worth my whi...

I had been wanting to share another page from this book with you all, and since this one was troublesome (saving errors... yikes!) I chose this one.

This page shows off nicely the perspective grid features of clip studio, which makes backgrounds a whole lot easier.

It also shows off the color scheme I've been using for the book. There are 6 stories happening in the first issue, 6 p...

RIP Chris Cornell

So I wrote this comic some years ago, maybe even 20 years ago, and did a super rough version in a sketchbook. I had always had it in mind as filler someday, to pad out a book of miscellaneous stuff, like Dogspunk Comix. If there ever was a #2 of that, I had a number of one pagers that would go in there.

But in light of Chris Cornell's death a few days ago, I thought it appropriate to actua...

New Comic in the works!

It had been suggested to me, that since so many of my comics touch on music, that I do a series specifically with that theme. I have been considering that, and one entry would definitely be about how one particular song takes me back to my first time in Amsterdam.

I heard that song last night, and thought about doing this strip once again. As I pondered it, it seemed to intersect with my d...
