I remember when this episode came out there was a lot off talks in the fandom about how the doctor was this 900 year old time lord but lets the humans in his life shout at him. Like with 10 we had Martha's getting out speech and Donna's shouting at him quite a bit whereas when it was the 9th doctor he wouldn't do it to Matt Smith level but he'd keep his companion in line. so I always assumed he changed with Amy and become more authoritative to emulate 9 but it didn't work because he is a lot younger than Eccleston it comes across as rude and slightly dismissive.
