Stream links & craft book club questions!

Hi friends!

I spent the morning trying to get my MIL's new cat -- Rocky -- to come out from behind the dryer (his favorite hiding spot). He's stayed hidden the entire couple months she's had him (eating treats and food fine though, lol) but I'm determined to get him to come out. Today we played with a couple sticks, so we'll see what tomorrow holds bahaha. Fingers crossed!

Outside of my relationship with Rocky, I'm trying to sloooooooow dooooown tiiiime these final few days of 2024. I got a few hundred words at my MIL's this morning and I'm hoping to get a few thousand with y'all at 2:45pm CST today!

I have about 15K left to go in my personal 100KQ4 and I'm feeling pretty confident. Mostly because I'll have more streams with y'all to help me push through:

Tomorrow's stream (at 9:15am CST) can be found here! I can't believe that will mark the 90th day of our experiment.

The penultimate stream (on the 30th at 6:45pm CST) can be found here.

And the final, final stream of 2024 (EEEEEK) at 2:30pm CST on the 21st can be found here!

I'll set up another stream in the front half of January to discuss our final Crafts & Drafts Book Club pick of 2024: Refuse to Be Done by Matt Bell.

We'll definitely chat about it during our stream in January, but let me know how you've liked our bi-monthly craft book club. Would you prefer reading curated articles vs. craft books? Would you rather switch to some fiction for next year? Focus more on essays? Let me know your thoughts!

I'll be back with one final wrap-up post once all our words are logged on the 31st and also a silly little ranking of my own thoughts regarding our book club picks from this year. :)

Thanks everyone, hope to see you soon, and happy writing!

My Q4 goal was to finish writing a draft (was 3/4 done), revise, rest, then edit. 104 odd K later... Done!!! Thanks for facilitating the challenge, Kate

I'm planning one last 24hr writeathon for tomorrow. The weather in Wisconsin is pretty much absolutely terrible November til March, which means migraines and at the ripe old age of 30, my last wisdom tooth decided to slowly and painfully make a bit of an appearance (I didn't even notice when my other three came in) so I have no idea how much I wrote in November or December 😂

I hope I can make some of these streams, but I think I'm busy for most of them. But I'll watch them on replay

I think it would be interesting to read some fiction and discuss it from a craft perspective rather than explicitly from an entertainment standpoint. Discussing things like pacing, character development, if they info dump-does it serve the story, etc. If there was a list of questions to look for while reading it would serve as somewhat of a craft book experience in practice. Craft books are fun but I think it might be fun to sort of, "apply what you know" from our writing experiences and from the various craft books we've read.
