Eh, if all you've ever known with your first experience is one way of fighting then suddenly you come across something entirely different it's gonna throw you off plus add in the family thing which possibly made of him think of his own(possibly wanting to do well on his 1st raid and make them proud of him) and I feel like it's a logical pipe(especially for grog) even more so after grog came across pop pop right after his cousin just protect him from a spear

2025-04-12 10:50:35 +0000 UTCThis was supposedly Grog's first raid when he was a teenager, so it wasn't like he had done this many times before. There was bad history between Grog's father (Stonejaw Strongjaw, because, Travis kinda forgot his Grog's last name when he named his father, lol). Everyone he attacked or killed were armed. Pop Pop was really the first fully defenseless person. That said, I agree it was pretty thin and a bit of a leap. The ending with the fear helped for sure.
