I don't think it's very good, unfortunately.

2024-02-23 23:48:47 +0000 UTCAbout 700 for a small novel. A book like Cherry Blossoms could be over 3500, maybe 5000. There is a profit-sharing possibility which doesn't require any outlay of money, but I'm not sure I want the headache of contracts and submitting royalties and the administration it would require.

2023-02-05 15:40:42 +0000 UTCBetter idea I think. I take it that it’s expensive to produce an audio book that way?

2023-02-04 20:27:16 +0000 UTCHa ha, I'd have to hire Canadian with Italian accents.

2023-02-04 14:04:47 +0000 UTCYeah, I think I wasted a hundred bucks on this AI for a month. I write too much dialog that must be "acted" and I try to get the Ai to do it but it's too much work. I hate AI to begin with and this concretes it. I'm going to look into hiring voice actors and do profit-sharing or something.

2023-02-04 14:03:59 +0000 UTCI love it ..while I like to read them...I love the option of having the audio being read ..especially when I have travel.. I like the idea!

2023-02-01 10:48:03 +0000 UTCWhile I think audio books can be great, I didn’t like this. Sorry kt. While your level of detail is awesome when reading it as it paints a vivid picture, listening to it make it sound verbose to me. It may have been the AI voice, which I didn’t know when I listened, but I thought it read too fast and the depth of feeling wasn’t there. Not sure about the accent either. Don’t give up though, I like listening to audio books on long trips in the car, 2-8 hours which is not uncommon in my part of the world. Hard part is getting my wife to agree to the same book. Currently reading and listening to “she comes first “ you’d think she’d be up for that. However thought the idea of 20 minutes of foreplay was ridiculous.

2023-02-01 09:12:35 +0000 UTCThe concept is great, hearing the story by way of audiobook might be helpful to better understand the details of the story. That AI was really impressive, not sure if the vibe was fully encapsulated, but it was really good nonetheless! The way this AI annunciates though is weirdly satisfying in a way that is creating an uncanny valley situation, like I shouldn't like it but I do, lol. Also the accent is not at all Canadian so 3 stars.

2023-02-01 00:18:10 +0000 UTCApparently this coming month they're rolling out a way to completely design a voice using a generative model, might be useful? Regardless, good luck!

2023-01-31 22:43:06 +0000 UTCI subscribed, so I'll give it a go and see how it does. Wish me luck.

2023-01-31 22:41:30 +0000 UTCOne thought, I wonder how an AI voice would do with the hotter segments, like would it sound odd to have the same tone describing a dinner with family vs. a sex scene? I dunno, maybe there's a workaround.

2023-01-31 22:27:04 +0000 UTCAs Glaucon pointed out, it sounded real to me too. I certainly couldn't tell the difference. I would say that there is a bit of sibilance to the peaks that needs to be rounded off as it could get grating over an extended listening period. Not everyone is sensitive to that sort of thing, though. (I just thought it was a recording thing, having no clue this was AI generated) Giving people new ways to access your work is always a good thing, KT. You're VERY good at what you do, so letting more people enjoy it in more ways isn't a bad thing at all.

2023-01-31 22:17:40 +0000 UTCYeah, everyone has their own way of reading ha ha. It won't be as good as a voice actor, but I like the ease and the DIY aspect. No profit-sharing or contracts. A bigger author should stick with the voice actors, but for someone like me I think this could work.

2023-01-31 22:16:47 +0000 UTCThat's exactly the company I was reading about yesterday! Dealing with reports on people misusing it to believably clone real people's voices/making audio deepfakes.

2023-01-31 22:14:41 +0000 UTCObjectively, it sounds fine. I prefer a voice that's a little lower pitched (someone like Jennifer Hale), but i don't think there's anything wrong here. The bigger issue you'd have with me is i just wouldn't buy one. Audio books aren't my thing. Mostly because i enjoy re-reading certain sections, sometimes multiple times, when it's a really impactful moment and i want to cement it in my head and ruminate on it. I'll often also go back a few chapters to read something to make sure i remembered it correctly when it ties into something i'm currently reading about. That's just not really conducive with the audio platform. (I also like to listen to music while i read, so that's an issue too) I'm an oddball though. I read at a much slower pace than most, so i don't know if my sample size of one should really be indicative of anything.

2023-01-31 22:13:40 +0000 UTCElevenLabs is the AI source. The inflections are so good, it's hard to believe. That's no tweaking on my end, just plug and play.

2023-01-31 22:12:17 +0000 UTCI've been hearing a lot of these lately, it's crazy how well they can modulate tone now. Can you share what you used specifically?
