DITW 11-12: Friction

Hyun’s reaction was hard to decipher. A tremulous fluttering of her brow, crinkling for a fraction of a second in troubled folds; her lips twitched and her face jutted closer. For a fleeting moment, Kimmy thought the revelation angered Hyun, but then an expression of confusion solidified. “What do you mean?”

And now, wary she’d miscalculated Hyun’s surety, she pandered a heartfelt clarification: “It’s not how it sounds.”

Hyun’s confusion became bewilderment, and the question forming on her lips dissolved. Her eyes darted as she sought an explanation without being told—none came.

Kimmy said, “It’s a lot to explain,” and ran fingers through her hair.

“But how could it not be Josh’s?”

Kimmy sighed and averted her eyes. “It’s been a strange summer.”

Hyun rubbed her knee, looking away and lost in thought for a moment. Then she said, “It was weird when Josh came home that night. Was he mad?”

“Like I said, it’s been a strange summer. I don’t even know how to explain it.”

Hyun was more eager now, ready to become involved. “You can tell me.”

Kimmy rubbed the back of her neck, then looked Hyun in the eye. “I need someone I can talk to.”

“You can talk to me,” Hyun said with earnest zeal.

Kimmy looked down, shaking her head, gathering the courage to take this risky step forward. Hyun waited. Kimmy said, “Nine weeks ago...” Then she faltered, not sure of the best way to begin. “Josh already knows this.”

“That your baby might not be—”

“No-no-no,” Kimmy interrupted, taking a light hold of Hyun’s wrist. “I haven’t even told Josh yet.”

“Haven’t told him you’re pregnant?”

Kimmy pursed her lips and met Hyun’s gaze. “You’re the first person I’ve told. I only went to the doctor today.”

“Really?”

“Josh isn’t expecting me to be pregnant. This is going to be a surprise for him.”

The crease in Hyun’s brow hadn’t left. “But he’s going to be happy?”

“Of course,” Kimmy said. “Of course he’ll be happy.”

In the silence after this confirmation, the admission of her baby’s unconfirmed providence loomed large. The silence was filled with Hyun’s obvious but unspoken question: Even if the baby isn’t his? Kimmy said, “It’s his. It has to be.”

Hyun’s features softened to a more compassionate mask. She said, “I’m sure it is. But... but who’s this other man?”

She wasn’t sure how to answer. The thought of saying the man’s name disgusted her. She imagined hearing her voice saying Devlin Stone’s name out loud, and it turned her stomach. She thought of answering by saying it was her boss, but that was worse. That came with the connotation that her infidelity may have come from the impetus of stepping up, or worse, that her boss had manipulated her via an exchange of power. That was worse because it made her look weak. At last, she said, “A guy Josh and I know from high school.” Heat flared on her brow and cheeks. That sounded worse. High school. How immature. How juvenile. There was no way this spectacle of bad behavior could be spun to gold. No way for her bad behavior to shine in a bath of flattering light. The realization hardened some knot in her heart.

Hyun said in a soft voice, “Your boss?”

Kimmy’s corrective response was quick. “Before he was my boss.” And that meant Hyun would think Kimmy’s offered invitation inside her body garnered her lucrative employment. She groaned and rubbed her brow. “There was a... we—Josh and I—went to a high school reunion in July.”

“I remember.” And, seeing how hard this retelling came for Kimmy, Hyun reached to hold Kimmy’s shoulder, her thumb stroking lightly.

Kimmy paused, as if for dramatic effect, but she was staggered by the enormity of this revelation, growing huger in scale before her. Now, no matter what happened, the time before this conversation couldn’t be recovered. There was no going back. This would change everything forever. “I’m trusting you,” she said, her tone serious and grave, not an act, but a recognition of reality.

Again, Hyun showed that earnestness, that desire to connect. “Of course,” she said, sincere.

After a moment of consideration, Kimmy said, “I need someone to hear me. You know?” Hyun said she did, and Kimmy continued, saying, “Everything is fine between Josh and I. Yes, maybe things got a little weird between us—like when he came home that night you were sleeping over—but we’re fine. . . . If I try to explain this, you’re going to think it’s crazy, so I don’t even know where to start...”

“You can take your time.”

Kimmy looked aside, contemplating, then she said, “Josh and I have, like, fantasies or whatever. You know, we play around with each other; mind games.” Hyun watched and waited, not interrupting. “I hope you don’t think it sounds wrong. Or immoral.”

Hyun didn’t answer right away, but when Kimmy was silent, Hyun said, “I don’t know what you’re saying yet.”

“Okay. It’s like this: nine weeks ago, I was with this other guy in a way that makes me worried.”

“You slept with him?”

Kimmy shook her head. “No, it’s a...” She palmed her forehead and sighed. “It’s a stupid long shot, but I can’t get it out of my mind.”

Hyun seemed exasperated by the stalling, and presented a new direction. “How can your boss be the . . .?”

“He’s not my boss.”

“But I thought . . . Isn’t he?”

“I suppose. I don’t see him that way. I’m . . . I’m more important than he is. His father owns the company.”

Hyun lowered her eyes, thinking, saying, “Oh,” eyelashes fluttering.

None of this was going as easy as she’d imagined. Hyun’s reaction exposed a personal weakness; a shallowness that she knew existed but thought would be easier to conceal. Referring to Devlin as less-than-her showed vanity. Showed it in a way that Hyun didn’t concede—her claim had been unconvincing. And Hyun saw an aspect Kimmy didn’t want her to see. It seemed more important to show Hyun that Devlin didn’t dominate her, that she didn’t submit to Devlin. But it would be better to present it that way. Better for her perceived innocence to be portrayed as a woman subjugated by a powerful man—a time-honored tradition—than one who led her own path of dishonor. “Devlin’s my boss. He is. I don’t want you to think he took advantage of me. That’s all.” Hyun nodded and Kimmy continued. “Devlin and I almost had a thing in high school.”

“Okay,” Hyun said with easy patience, letting Kimmy roll now.

The plain truth now. “Josh likes it when I flirt with Devlin.”

“Why?”

‘She shrugged. She didn’t even know why, she could only guess. “I don’t think Josh even knows why. He just likes it.”

“So you flirted with your boss?”

Kimmy couldn’t meet Hyun’s eyes, looking away and saying. “More than that. We . . . rolled around, we, uh, we weren’t wearing clothes.”

Hyun shook her head in disbelief.

“I know. I can’t believe I did it either. But I did. And Devlin was, you know . . . aroused.”

“And Josh knows?”

“Josh likes that.”

Hyun scratched her head and narrowed her eyes, struggling to comprehend what Kimmy was telling her.

Kimmy said, “I know it’s crazy.”

“No,” Hyun said, slow and draggy, more to say but unsure if she should say it. Then: “I mean . . . Meyer liked to play games, too. It’s just...”

“You don’t have to tell me.”

“No, I’m not going to. It’s Meyer’s business. But I guess I understand.”

Kimmy sighed, then said, “I’m glad. It’s so much to dump on you—”

“I don’t mind,” Hyun said, brightening. “You can tell me whatever you want to tell me. I’ll listen to you.”

Kimmy cocked her head and showed a weak smile. “That’s all I want. I need someone to hear me.”

Hyun smiled at last and the skies opened. Kimmy smiled as well, then shook her head at the insanity of it all. “There’s not a chance it isn’t Josh’s, but I can’t stop thinking of that time when...” She didn’t know how to phrase it.

“Did Devlin, you know, uh . . . did he finish?” Hyun’s eyes darted to Kimmy’s crotch, not wanting to say a vulgar thing out loud.

“No,” Kimmy said. “No, he didn’t...” She didn’t want to say this next part, but she had to for Hyun to understand why she might be worried. “He put his thing inside me.”

Hyun’s eyes widened, and, though her lips stayed closed, her jaw dropped.

Kimmy also widened her eyes, admitting how insane it was. “Yeah. I can’t even believe it, but...”

“And Josh likes that?”

This was something she wouldn’t be able to answer honestly, so she said nothing, only pursing her lips and looking aside. “So, yeah, Devlin didn’t finish, like we didn’t have sex or anything, other than...”

“He put it inside you.”

“Right. And . . . and...”

Hyun waited, face innocent, but Kimmy felt funny saying what she wanted to say. “Oh,” she chuckled and let it go. “Never mind.”

“No, Kimmy, tell me,” Hyun said, and touched her wrist again.

“Devlin’s thing is . . . it’s like, uh . . . huge.”

Hyun’s reaction to this salacious detail was unexpected. If she’d grimaced or even gagged at this disgusting revelation, she wouldn’t have blamed her. But Hyun giggled then clamped a hand over her mouth, her eyes showing the embarrassment at such a response.

Kimmy let her know it was okay by joining in, laughing too, but still trying to be serious. “Sorry. I had to say it. . . . It’s important. You know? Like, it was way inside me, if you know what I mean. And, I know he didn’t . . . uh, ejaculate. But, like, what if it was, you know...”

Hyun said, “Like, leaking?”

Kimmy nodded. “Right? Like it was...” She didn’t know how to best reinforce the message she was conveying. She tugged up the loose sleeve of her light sweater to reveal her skinny forearm, holding up a fist and showing Hyun, gripping her other hand down at her elbow. “It’s, like, this big.”

#

Josh watched Hyun’s apartment window from the Qashqai, parked at the end of the visitor’s lot, backed in so his windshield faced the building. Kimmy ran into Hyun at the grocery store, she’d told him. Girl’s night out. Dinner with Hyun and Sophie. Sure. Okay. Yeah, maybe.

But it could be bull shit, too.

It could be total bull shit.

She ran into Hyun at the grocery store and arranged a night she could borrow Hyun’s apartment. I just need it for an hour. I’ll pay you five hundred if you take Sophie out for a movie. Call before you guys get back.

Kimmy could be up there right now fucking Devlin Stone. Laid out in Hyun’s bed, taking Devlin’s monster cock. Kimmy was probably addicted to it. She could hate Devlin as much as she wanted, but her husband could still picture her with her legs spread for the man. Just fuck me, then shut up and leave. That was what the new Kimmy was like. Crazy as the scenario was, he could picture it clearly and didn’t think it was ridiculous.

Or maybe it was worse. Maybe Kimmy told her what an incredible fuck Devlin was, how rich he was, how hung he was. Maybe the new Kimmy wanted to corrupt Hyun. Maybe she would tease Hyun. Maybe she’d bring Devlin over for some fun, hoping the three of them would end up in bed together. What if they were all in bed right now, Sophie away at a friend’s house, two empty bottles of wine, three naked bodies writhing in Hyun’s bed?

He groaned and bit a knuckle, sitting in the coffin silence of his shut-down car, the windows opened a crack so he wouldn’t steam them with his hot breath in the cold of an autumn night. He unzipped his jeans and pulled his cock out, the thing hard as steel and leaking with excitement.

Comments

Pretty crappy with her offhand “Josh likes that.”

L.

I’m not here for Josh so what is better for him personal is irrelevant for me.

Chinookfan72

That’s what makes it hotter and more torturous for Josh.

CSH

That would be wickedly great from a reading perspective. I think Josh is probably a latent cuck. He would probably watch Kimmy with other dudes just not Devlin.Due to the shit he put him through over the years!

Andrew Mellein

This is next level analysis, CSH. Hyun had the integrity to be honest with Meyer, even in the face of knowing what it might bring, and still has the honesty to admit she has feelings for Meyer, painful as that might be. Kimmy isn't fit to lick her boots, yet here she is, attempting to corrupt her. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Kimmy's looking for a port in the storm, regardless of how she has to manufacture it. Hyun's love vs her inherent honest? Interesting to see which wins out.

L_S87

Great chapter from the introduction of Hyun I’ve hoping for a threesome angle with Devlin, not sure how it would work in the story now but I would love to see it happen soon. I’m hoping Josh accepts his role as a cuck and we can get back to Devlin and Kimmy fucking all over greater Toronto.

Chinookfan72

Hyun still seems an odd character whose role is unclear to me. I don’t believe Kimmy needs a confidante. Especially given that Kimmy then lies to her. I am reminded of Kimmy’s reaction to Amy trying to bring her into a threeway with Devlin. Kimmy now in the role of Amy, Hyun fresh and pure like old Kimmy. Kimmy a new corrupter. Remember how Josh was uncomfortable with Amy? And how she humiliated him? KT has something up her sleeve for Hyun but I can’t figure her out. I still think Hyun is what Kimmy pretends to be and clearly isn’t, honest, and therefore she is dangerous. How she is dangerous and to whom is unclear to me. My impression is that Kimmy clearly wants to manipulate Hyun into something. Another impression is that Hyun is more honest or at least more genuine than Kimmy and therefore will not likely react in a predictable or controllable fashion once she realizes she has been manipulated. Very interesting, very odd. What’s up here, KT?

CSH

Exactly! Because we all know Kimmy deserves that extra 10% of shit!

L_S87

L_S87: That would be a metric shit tonne with 1000 kG (2,204 lb). The Imperial shit ton, at 2,000 lb has 204 fewer pounds of shit than the metric tonne -;)

Donkatsu

Kat, you're right about Hyun, or at least I agree with your assessment about Kimmy seeing her as an easy mark. Kimmy wants positive reinforcement of not being an awful person for her thoughts, feelings and actions. She can't get those from Josh because the situation doesn't allow it, and no matter how dominant she is in the moment during sex like a couple chapters ago, she has to tip toe around almost everything else or risk Josh walking. This gives her courage to be evil and awful without being called out for it with Josh's proclivities as the rationalization and excuse. CSH, I agree with Josh knowing the instant he sees Hyun because she won't be able to hide having some sort of reaction. Not sure on him being into it because I disagree on your assessment of Josh in the car. He's clearly there beating off fantasizing about Kimmy and Devlin. Story makes that clear, not about her telling Hyun his kinks.

L_S87

Yeah, I remembered that differently, I need to go back and reread it, I recalled that Devlin tried to force her (according to Kimmy) and I recalled her friends stepping in. I recalled them all basically saying nothing happened but being very shady/guilty about it as if they were covering things up. But I also recall from the car scene that they hadn't engaged like that before, which made me think what happened at the Reunion to be something smaller than this. An appetizer, no actual insertion. Like I said, I need to go back and read it again to refresh my memory. Regardless, there's a lot of revisionist history Kimmy is employing and blaming most of it on Josh. Like you, I wonder how Josh will respond. He kinda flipped out on Kimmy at the tailor, and while we're a long ways down the road from then, implying something salacious to a veritable stranger is a far cry from sharing intimate details of Josh's kink to Hyun.

L_S87

Josh is sitting in the car beating off and fantasizing about Kimmy telling Hyun. He will get off on knowing she told her. So I think this is the humiliated in front of friends and family idea. Hyun won’t be able to look at Josh the same ever again. One look and Josh will realize that she knows.

CSH

So he kinda knows that Devlin played around and tried to hump her at the party. Actually she may have been both more honest and less honest with Hyun. Remember she got caught trying to hump Devlin at the party in the bathroom. That was the intervention by the other women. And she told Josh that Devlin held her down outside and tried to hump her, though I think we all got the impression she couldn’t do it because he was too big to fit. Here she says it fit. She told Josh there was no sex. So a pack of lies wrapped around some half truths. Covered over with some self justification and sprinkled with a little humiliation for our boy Josh. Can’t wait till Hyun sees him and reacts to his face by turning red or giggling at him.

CSH

Just some thoughts from your thoughts: Kimmy wants to be told that what she’s done is okay and understandable, when in reality she knows what she’s done is wrong. Throughout the series she’s been trying to find a way to do what she wants, and be who she wants to be, while still keeping her life intact. She knows Hyun has a crush on her, and that Hyun is timid and meek. She’s an easy mark for Kimmy. If she can craft her story from scratch with Hyun, it will be easier to sell it to Josh later. Josh’s kink has become a compulsion that’s dictating his actions. Throwing Devlin in there just makes him weaker, needing Kimmy to protect him. I think if Kimmy can create a story for Hyun that’s believable it will give her the power to move forward with whatever she’s planning with Josh and Devlin. She’s definitely the new Kimmy now. Just some thoughts, who knows what KT has planned. :)

Kat

I agree, at some point all Kimmy’s lies and machinations have to come and bite her. The only person who would enjoy everything coming out is Devlin. He’d love it all. I can’t imagine a scenario where Kimmy doesn’t have some payback, even if it’s only in her head.

Kat

After further contemplation, I wonder what Kimmy's plan is for Hyun. I had initially thought she would basically divulge everything, in line with having a *true* confidante, but all these lies and fabrications make me wonder if she has some other scheme. It's kind of hard to call Hyun anything more than a puppet when more than half of what has come out of Kimmy's mouth is crap. And maybe that's the point, new Kimmy, as Josh called her, is such a manipulator and liar that this is now her norm. She doesn't want to share the truth, she just wants manufactured acceptance of who she is so that being such an awful person becomes "okay". Even though she hasn't told Hyun literally anything about her awful behavior and fobbed off the one BS bit of story she did come up with as Josh's fault. Hell, she's played this off as a one time deal up to this point, which is where Hyun's acceptance is mostly coming from. That and again, Kimmy constantly affirming that Josh "knows" and "likes it". I wonder if her plan after the Devlin size discussion is to then divulge more of her indiscretions, bit by bit, to see how Hyun responds to the salacious behavior. Since Hyun reacted so positively, even laughing about it, maybe Kimmy will feel that gives her license to open up. It's still built on a bed of lies, but hell, Kimmy's entire life for the past few months has become built on that, so not much of a stretch. I wonder if Josh ever finds out about Kimmy throwing him under the bus like this just to assuage her own feelings? I also wonder if she'll actually have the backbone to tell Hyun about her own humiliation fetish on demeaning Josh.

L_S87

It will be interesting to find out what see told Josh. Most likely bullshit.

Tracey52

Exactly, this is Kimmy truly at her worst. It's all Josh's fault, he wants this. Though, as you pointed out, the one thing about the chapter that feels off and doesn't make much sense is Hyun's reaction to the bullshit fabrication Kimmy has come up with. It's convenient for the story line, but this reeks of "The Last Boy Scout" kind of explanation. "Whoops, I tripped and it just slipped in." The ease with which Hyun just accepts this and doesn't ask follow up questions feels off. I guess this is why KT said these chapters were disagreeable, because the outcome of this is clear, but selling it as believable and working through how to get there is rather tough. Which is probably why there was so much focus on Josh liking this, because if Josh is okay with it, then it must be alright. No need to ask more questions. Though again, how would you not ask how Kimmy found herself naked and rolling around with Devlin, regardless of Josh's proclivities? Kimmy's goal for this is clear, hense all the lying to keep Hyun okay with what she's done. I just wonder how this affects things moving forward. At some point, the metric shit ton of lies that Kimmy has told have to come back and bite her, right? The next chapter will be interesting. It feels like Kimmy is trying to set up Hyun to be sympathetic to her plight. "Of course it's not your fault, Kimmy, how could you resist Devlin when he's that hung and Josh likes it??" We'll see.

L_S87

Wow, does Kimmy really think it’s a believable story that she and Devlin were just rolling around “not wearing clothes” and his “thing” just slipped in? Seriously, if you’re going to go as far as to admit that the fetus you’re carrying might not be your husband’s, then just tell the whole truth. But Kimmy is incapable of true honesty, even when she’s dying for someone to confide in. After everything she’s done, the way she throws Josh under bus here is incredibly low. Out of all the vile things Kimmy has done to Josh throughout this series, this might be one of the worst. Josh is so ashamed of his kink, but here is Kimmy freely exposing him to Hyun. I missed you KT! So glad you’re back!

Kat

Welcome back KT!

Kat

This has me totally confused. I can't tell if Kimmy is telling the truth about what happened at the reunion, because we never actually got to see that part of the story, only conjecture, or if this is Kimmy being Kimmy and pulling another massive con on someone new, lying out her ass to get Hyun on side. Because Josh definitely doesn't know this thing she's insisting Josh knows about, unless that's what she told him in the portion in between chapters that was hidden from us. I could see Josh, in that moment, maybe being okay with it, somewhat, but then he'd be questioning every little thing that happened in between. I'm more inclined to believe this is total fabrication given how Kimmy reacted that time in the car with Devlin, because I'm pretty sure she stated that was her first time for that. So she's basically created this tale from whole cloth and then pitched Josh under the bus as a justification for her evil being okay because Josh "knows" and "likes it". But he doesn't know this. I find it hard to believe he'd be so calm if he did. He clearly doesn't trust Kimmy one iota, and I don't see how a relationship survives that kind of distrust, kinks or not. I also feel like this might be Kimmy's way of paying Josh back. He told Meyer he thought Kimmy was cheating and it humiliated her, so now she's airing Josh's kink to Hyun, knowing she won't ever look at Josh the same way again. Pretty awful, but par for the course with Kimmy.

L_S87

Great chapter KT! You truly are the queen of angst, eroticism, and prose in erotic literature. I read other hot wife erotic authors and the writing is flat and the characters unrealistic. Your characters seem real and you care about them, including morally grey characters such as Kimmy due to the wrongheaded choices they make! I tried other erotic authors but none compare. Your the Stephen King of Erotica! As for the chapter and my two cents: I think Kimmy is fooling herself and the baby is Devlin's. I also think there no way is Josh going to go along with Kimmy doing the dirty with Devlin while he watches. I actually think any other man Josh would be o.k. with due to his kink but not Devlin! Also cant wait for Josh to finally find out about Kimmy's escapades but deep down he knows. Is this part of the Losing his Wife series? It feels like it. Cant wait for chapter 13, Great Job KT!

Andrew Mellein

KT the undisputed champ of writing sexual gaslighting and mind games. I'm having the award made up, it'll be in the mail. Loving the in-real-time rationalizations and revisionist history Kimmy is undergoing to pursue her naked self-interest and favored self-image. What's most impressive (in my mind) is how the heat and fetish materials of the scenes flow naturally from the characters and their motivations. The sheer craft of it, I'm always in awe. Curious to see Kimmy's goal with this scene, though. Laundering her past actions by spreading her preferred version of events? Luring Hyun into her world somehow like Josh fears? Probably not exactly like he fears, or we likely wouldn't have had him guessing correctly. Does she truly just want someone to hear an edited version of the truth and say "It's alright Kimmy, you're still a good person"? Maybe a little of all three? We'll just have to see.

Glaucon

Poor Josh, kink always diminishes perception. Kimmy could not have manipulated Josh better if Devlin were in the lounge of their apartment. Welcome back, KT. I have a feeling we are in for wild ride over the next few days.
