DITW 15-16: The Touch of that Sacred Spear
Added 2024-10-08 19:56:08 +0000 UTC(So sorry for the delay. I was listening to an interesting interview with someone and they talked about something that changed how I wanted this conversation to go. I adjusted some of the conversation here in this chapter and I'm happier with what it sets up now.)
***
When he first fell in love with Kimmy, she had been nothing but a skinny teen—no bumps or knobs to consider. Tall, slim, but unnoticeable. With his hands roaming her skin now, Josh wondered how he’d never seen what Devlin saw. Devlin Stone had perverted her, opened up something inside her that was dark and sexual. But Devlin Stone didn’t put it there. It was inside her already. Kimmy herself had said that Devlin encouraged her darkness to the surface. And she groomed herself in a manner that revealed all those wicked tendencies. Under his hands right now was the exact same woman who he’d married and committed himself to, and built a life with.
They were on the couch, making out like lusty young people. Kimmy wore nothing under her robe. The robe was open, and he lay on his back with his wife on top. Kimmy humped her bald sex against his aching member. His hands coddled, smoothed, and squeezed her ass and the backs of her thighs. She was warm under his touch.
They were waiting for their babysitter’s return. He’d never been more eager to see his cousin’s ex-wife.
At last, they heard Hyun’s arrival home. It was after 10:30. His hands were on Kimmy’s round but narrow ass, riding it up and down and guiding her hips to hump against his own. She was soaking wet. He was hard as a rock. Kimmy broke off their kiss and slunk away from him, her eyes turned out behind the couch and past the garden to the garage, where he once thought she’d wanted him to live. She closed her robe and tied it at the waist. Her eyes were watery, her cheeks blushed, her lips swollen and puckered. Desire burned on her skin. Josh sat up and looked out to the garage to see Hyun’s hatchback pulling in.
“Finally,” he said with comic indignation.
Kimmy smiled but then showed him one of those faces that served to remind him to mind his manners.
“Only joking,” he said.
Kimmy left him on the couch, moving back to the chair. Josh adjusted his erection under his pants and sat upright, crossing his legs. They’d been making out like that for a whole hour, with only one interruption from Colleen. They listened as Hyun came in through the side door and into the kitchen, and now Kimmy said to him, “Why don’t you go upstairs, and I’ll talk to Hyun?”
That was fine with him. He was ready to blow. The last thing he wanted to do was sit around and try to act casual and make small talk with Hyun, when all he wanted to do was get his wife upstairs and relive some of the better moments of their devilish desires. He told her to go on ahead, that he needed a minute. With the pants he was wearing, there would be little chance of hiding his arousal. He’d rather wait for Kimmy to go in and talk to Hyun, and maybe he could sneak up the stairs without having to say a word.
Kimmy smiled in a way that sparked that dark fire in him again. It was a wicked smile. The smile of a wrongdoer. She got up from the chair and came to him, putting her hands on his thighs and her knee between his open legs. She kissed him fully. Lips soft and fattened with passion. She moaned while she kissed him and that drove him wild. She wanted him. She really wanted him. This was no put-on, no act. He was darn certain that Devlin Stone was gone. Long gone. Kimmy never mentioned him. He wasn’t hiding upstairs in their bedroom to jump out and torment him like he did in those high school showers with his oversized organ swinging between his legs. And Kimmy wasn’t going to set him up to be humiliated. No, this was them in it together again. Whatever strange sexual proclivity had metastasized in him during Kimmy’s affair with Devlin could now be explored. His greatest fears had been laid bare. They’d been made real. But everything was in place again. And with everything in place, they couldn’t just go back to the mundane. Kimmy loved her wickedness, and he knew it. Kimmy would use her wickedness to light up the tenderest parts of his battleground with military-grade guidance systems.
While they still kissed, her hand went down and grabbed his turgid column and squeezed. She made a satisfied sound that had his core tightening. She couldn’t wait to get it out of his pants and do things with it he could only imagine. They’d been apart for so long, but when they’d been together, there had been no greater satisfaction in his life.
She slipped away from him, still showing that wicked smile, saying, “Meet me upstairs.” Then she put on her slippers and swished from the room, down the hall, and into the kitchen.
Josh lay back on the couch, feeling his body shake with the beat of his heart. His cock ached. His pulse raced. He wished he could teleport into the bedroom. His erection did not subside. He stood up and found out he was right. The front of his pants were tented out, his knob end trying to poke a hole through the fabric. He couldn’t walk around with a pillow held to his lap. Even his untucked shirt did nothing to conceal his frenzied state.
“Fuck,” he moaned, his voice a whisper. He squeezed his own hardness, then followed Kimmy’s wake, going down the hall and around the corner, pausing and listening. He heard Kimmy talking in the kitchen. He could slip upstairs unnoticed if he tried. He got around the corner unseen, made it to the stairs, then stopped. They were talking low, but now they weren’t talking at all. He edged to the end cupboard and peeked into the kitchen. Kimmy held Hyun in a strange embrace in front of the fridge. Hyun looked sad. Like she might have been crying. Her face was downturned, and Kimmy rested her own forehead against Hyun’s temple. It was strangely intimate, but they’d been together during a trying time and he was glad Hyun had been there for Kimmy when he couldn’t. He left them alone and slipped upstairs without them even noticing.
*
Hyun’s tears traveled her porcelain cheeks. She hid her face from Kimmy, ashamed. Kimmy rubbed Hyun’s shoulders, soothing her, needing her to maintain composure.
“I’m sorry,” Hyun said, pinching her brow, squeezing the tears from her eyes like she wanted them gone. “I knew it was coming. I’ve been expecting it.”
“I know,” Kimmy said. “You just came home from class and—“
“I’m fine,” Hyun said again and sniffled, but she wasn’t.
Kimmy stroked Hyun’s neck and hugged her. “You know this is the way it has to be,” she whispered.
“He’s Colleen’s father,” Hyun said. “I know, Kimmy. I know. I’m fine.” This time when she looked away, Hyun sobbed once, a mournful sound. Kimmy hugged her harder and rubbed a circle on her back.
*
Josh was in their bedroom, sitting on the bed and waiting for her. She’d expected him to be under the covers and ready for sex, not wearing anything, but he was still dressed. Elbows on knees, hands clasped together and facing the dresser. She stepped into the bedroom and closed the door behind her, stepped towards Josh and saw what he was looking at. There on the dresser was the rubber-flesh facsimile of Devlin’s size. Cartoonishly large, looking almost unreal. But the measurements were not quite far from reality. It wasn’t two-toned like Devlin’s cock was, and it never could do the job the way Devlin did it, but it represented Devlin nonetheless. She stopped short, surprised to see it there. She hadn’t expected Josh to be so bold. She would have suspected that Josh would have found it and put it back and never mentioned it again. Maybe not never, but not this way. Not so abrupt or confrontational.
He said, “You left that for me to find.”
She relaxed a little. “If I wanted to hide it from you, I would put it with my paperwork.”
Josh finished for her, saying, “Not with your underwear.” He was expressionless and not like the man she’d been making out with for the last hour. He looked up now to meet her gaze. “Do you miss him?”
She continued to the bed, stood before him, and brushed his cheeks with the backs of her fingers while he looked up at her. She untied her robe and showed him her naked front. Josh kissed her stomach, and she pulled his cheek to rest there. She said, “I thought we were done talking about the past.”
“That can’t be true,” he said. “If it were true, I wouldn’t be sitting here asking you about that thing on the dresser. You put it there.”
“You looked for it.”
He said, “I wasn’t looking for that. You know what I was looking for, and you wanted me to see it.”
She gripped the hair at the back of his head and guided him to look up at her again. She said, “Because I know you like it, Josh. I want to give you the things you like.”
Josh sighed, but not from exasperation or frustration. It was a happy sound. A satisfied sound. He kissed her belly, brushing his beard against her sensitive skin. He said, “I made myself so vulnerable to you.”
“You did,” she said, playing with his hair.
“I confessed things that were so sacred. And you accepted them. But you still lied to me.”
“I did,” she said, thumbing his hot cheekbones, feeling love for him despite the truthful accusation.
“You lied to me when I was at my most open. There’s nothing to lie about anymore, Kimmy. I know what you did. I know you hated what you did, but I also know you didn’t hate every minute of it. There were times you really liked what you were doing—what Devlin was doing—so don’t lie anymore. Just tell me the truth. Everything will be so much better if you just tell the truth.”
She lifted a leg and dropped a knee on the mattress between his open legs, nuzzling it into his crotch. “What do you want to know?”
He looked up at her, steadfast, sure of himself. “I want to know if you miss Devlin.”
She exhaled, looked down between them, then back into his eyes. “I miss the good times.”
“There were good times with him?”
“There were incredible times, Josh.” She flashed a sad smile. “There were times he did things to me I couldn’t believe.”
Josh’s jaw slackened, his cheeks hollowed. He couldn’t believe she would tell the truth—and he didn’t like the truth. The truth offended him. It jarred him. But they both knew the truth turned him on. All those times she’d lied were good times. All the times she’d spoken Josh’s fantasies were good times. Sometimes they were truths and Josh turned them into fantasies. But no matter the anguish he’d suffered, he couldn’t shake the way his fantasies tickled him.
She thumbed his jawline, the sad smile turning upbeat and reassuring. “You’re safe now, Josh. The boogey man is long gone. I’m all yours. You’re all I want.”
Josh stared up at her, calm expression, but eyes blazing with lusty expectation. “Tell me when it was incredible.”
She brushed her fingers through his hair. “The first time he fucked me, I passed out. He fucked me senseless. When I came to, he order me IV hydration and a B12 booster. Bedside at the Royal York.”
Josh paled in exquisite, blood-draining horror. She guided him to his back and got over top of him.

2024-12-07 13:50:12 +0000 UTCDon't agreed only because Josh not given the knowledge of being the father from day one Kimmy found out. I believe as Kimmy does that Josh would be a awesome father as he has cared for Kimmy. He deserves to be Colleen father it is his right..period. He has not shown where he wouldn't be a idea father for her. So if he can have his family together then he should!!! Kids do so much better with 2 loving parents if that includes Josh and Kimmy then that is what should happen..as the biological stable and loving parents. Sorry Hyun was mislead by Kimmy but Josh deserves it more for what he his been though. In my opinion.

2024-10-19 22:41:10 +0000 UTC"Kimmy would use her wickedness to light up the tenderest parts of his battleground with military-grade guidance systems." No-one wonders why Josh envisions body and psyche (soul) as contested terrain... nor wonders how Kimmy's plans will fare when their skirmishing forces engage? The guidance systems suggest the intensity of barrage or bombardment.

2024-10-14 02:57:42 +0000 UTCAt first, I felt badly for Hyun. She clearly loves Kimmy, and probably loves the baby like her own. This can’t be easy for her, watching Josh take her place with Kimmy and Colleen. But, on the other hand, she helped Kimmy cheat on Josh, her ex-husband’s cousin, and the uncle to her daughter. She continued carrying on with Kimmy all year when she clearly knew what Josh was going through. The fact that she did this well after Josh nearly killed himself, shows a very cold side to Hyun. She’s more like Kimmy than she seems. Kimmy seems to have been using Hyun as a replacement for Josh, until she could figure out a way to get him back. And why not? Hyun is very nurturing, and she’s in love with Kimmy. She cooks and cleans. She’s had her own baby girl, so who else would be a better person to help raise Colleen? Kimmy, for all her strengths, can’t seem to be on her own, and not just sexually. She’s always fallen back to Hyun when Josh has been gone. She needs someone to nurture her, while she pretends to be in control of the situation. I think she loves Hyun, but it’s not the same love that Hyun has for her. She wants to protect Hyun, so I don’t think she’ll willingly volunteer any information to Josh, but Josh may just be perceptive to ask her about it this time. I’m convinced part of his horror at the end of the chapter, is that he’s realizing what he did/ingested with Kimmy after night at the Royal York. If he figures that little tidbit of info out, the questions about Hyun shouldn’t be far off. We don’t know the full extent of their relationship, but from the intimate conversation in the kitchen, we can assume they have been together all year. Did Kimmy lead her on, or did Hyun know the score from the start? She did go to Josh, and basically berate him into staying with Kimmy. Hyun seems to have known that this relationship was temporary. They don’t seem to be public with anyone. Kimmy told Josh that she’s never loved anyone but him. She also told him no more lies. Breaking it off with Hyun, while Josh is waiting for her upstairs in the bedroom, sounds like a pretty big lie to me.

2024-10-09 20:38:40 +0000 UTCMy comment was meant to have a possibly ambiguous interpretation.
Bill F Protagoras
2024-10-09 19:39:14 +0000 UTCYeah, the big hurdle is Kimmys comments of Josh being the only one she loves and no more betrayals, etc. This thing with Hyun refutes all of that. It would be difficult for me to see Josh just accepting that and not caring about it. Given his lack of trust in her. Which is why I feel like the only way something extraordinary like this happening would require Hyun and/or Kimmy giving Josh something to balance the scales. Scratching of backs and all that. I would say it makes sense for him to ask for his own extracurriculars with someone else, just to tweak Kimmy and make their sex more exciting in multiple ways, but this book has painted Josh into a corner that makes such interesting ideas mostly impossible.
L_S87
2024-10-09 18:11:32 +0000 UTCOoooo, I really like that. If Josh was willing to find a way that both he and Hyun get what they want (Kimmy), that would be one way that everyone gets a HEA, Hyun included. It would show compersion in Josh, and would be a truly beautiful loving act toward Kimmy. He'd be saying, 'I want you to have all the people who love you, able to love you, even if that's more than just me.' Plotwise, maybe that decision could stem from his recognition of Hyun being willing to give up Kimmy, and pushing him toward her, despite how it must have broke her heart to do so.

2024-10-09 14:41:09 +0000 UTCI agree JL. I remain cautiously optimistic about Hyun and what her motive is. As someone warned me once regarding one of my ex-wives—she bears watching.
Bill H.
2024-10-09 13:54:55 +0000 UTCYeah, that's what it feels like. Kimmy took from Hyun what she needed until she doesn't need it anymore, then cuts her loose. That's awful. It's hard to feel full sympathy for Hyun because she clearly knew this was coming, and she *did* choose to engage in an illicit relationship that she knew would hurt Josh, yet selfishly made that choice anyway. So it's not like it's all on Kimmy, but it's still pretty horrific to make such a cold and calculated decision. I almost want Josh to be the better person here, find a way to twist this info out of Kimmy, and then go to Hyun and propose a scenario where they both can have what they want. I just don't know if Josh could get there, when understanding the full scope of an additional betrayal he only somewhat suspects but doesn't truly know or understand. I know the Josh from before the last few chapters would be devastated and angry about Kimmy putting Hyun first for months. But the last few chapters have been like a weird light switch with how he's acting...so maybe he'd be willing to parlay with Hyun as long as he got something out of it too? Only KT knows at this point.

2024-10-09 11:47:35 +0000 UTCI think it's less feeling obligated to Josh and more Kimmy wanting to put Josh first because she loves him. Because she put herself first before (with both Devlin and Hyun) and it led to disaster that they're only now, somewhat, recovering from. She doesn't want that again. The question is, did Kimmy give Hyun everything she could for as long as she could and is now cutting her off, and that's why Hyun is so distraught, or is it that Hyun doesn't want to share, she's jealous ( we know she is because of how she acted with Josh) and Kimmy and her are going to try to sneak around. That last worries me because, while it's in keeping with who they both were and how they acted before the past year, it would spell disaster for Josh and Kimmy, because he *would* find out at some point (he basically already has and it's just being smothered in the narrative) which would lead to another marriage implosion, probably permanently.

2024-10-09 07:33:06 +0000 UTCAgreed, JL. So many questions. Hyun has been in love with Kimmy, and Kimmy has known that for several books now. An interesting question is whether Kimmy ever developed similar feelings for Hyun, and either has intentionally or unintentionally led Hyun on. I'm also really curious what Hyun wants. I can guess she wants (or wanted) Kimmy, but that's another assumption. If, and this is a big if, Kimmy does honestly love Hyun romantically, but is subordinating her desires due to her guilt and feelings of obligation toward Josh, then this becomes a complicated situation.
Pete
2024-10-09 00:46:37 +0000 UTCWe just really need to know exactly what the relationship between Hyun and Kimmy. It seems pretty clear here, but we’ve jumped to conclusions before. While I am not sure Josh is ever going to find out, I am confident we as a reader will find out exactly what the relationship has been the last year, and to the extent it has been sexual, what Hyun’s expectations were. In the end, Hyun pushed Josh towards Kimmy. I’m not sure he doesn’t just leave otherwise that night, as Kimmy feared. That push gave him the mindset to hear Kimmy out, and I’m not sure he gets there without that push. Even if she’s totally devoted to Kimmy’s happiness at the sake of her own, that strikes as something she wouldn’t have done if she had any hope she could be with Kimmy. Even if you don’t drive Josh away, you sit on the sidelines and see what happens. It just feels like there’s so much we still don’t know about Hyun and Kimmy, to really do anything but guess. It’s like the last missing piece, other than maybe exactly what happened to Devlin.

2024-10-09 00:24:56 +0000 UTCLove where this is going, KT. Thanks for taking the time to get it right for yourself, and for us. No and yes (my 2¢). If the sexual relationship with Hyun was so terrible and difficult for a somewhat normal Josh to get his head around, then how is it that almost every porn movie since the beginning of time features at least one such scene (we call it the OLS, Obligatory Lesbian Scene)? Also, we know that Josh has become a bit more aware of his own motivations, and more accepting of Kimmy's sexual leadership. His not yet asking about Hyun, though the evidence is laid out in front of him, indicates he can be at least a bit strategic in his behavior, especially of the general direction is positive. He needs the RY story as a cathartic, perhaps his last; involuntary protein ingestion reveal should be optional.

2024-10-08 22:12:50 +0000 UTCLS, that's a great point, and very different than how I was initially looking at it. If Kimmy's goal has always been to re-unite with Josh, then from that perspective 100%, it has to be him. Just my own experience, but I grew up in a house with constant tension because my Mom and Dad couldn't stand one another. Can't tell you how many times I wished they had gotten divorced. Some of those "old school" blanket assumptions (such as Mom and Dad need to stay together for Johnny and Jane), can be just terrible in reality.
Pete
2024-10-08 22:00:58 +0000 UTCI see what you're saying Pete. I read that differently, in that it has to be Josh because the plan (for Kimmy) was always for it to be Josh, so it "has" to be him, because that's what Kimmy's ultimate goal was. Not that it has to be Josh just because of Colleen being his. I don't think you're wrong that what Hyun clearly wanted was for Colleen to be her and Kimmys and for them to be a family. But Kimmy wanted the family to be her and Josh. Which, as I pointed out in another post, makes Kimmy a stone cold bitch if she's been fucking Hyun and now shifts to Josh because he's now available, and kicks Hyun to the curb. The only real issue I have with Hyun taking Colleen is that it would have been awful for Josh. That scenario, and advocating for it, imo, would have likely ended with Josh in another lake or with a gun in his mouth. Because that's where he was headed with his life with how badly it was falling apart. And it would mean Kimmy and Hyun knowingly making that happen by shutting him out. A truly dark ending.
L_S87
2024-10-08 21:15:27 +0000 UTCI knew when I read the part with Hyun that you were going to be upset with Kimmy. I almost @ to you, LS. Lol! I think she’s been playing house with Hyun all year until “something better” came along aka Josh. Remember in Book 11 when she seduced Hyun as a way to have a consolation prize, and not be exiled from the family if Josh “cast her out”? Is that what Hyun has been to her all year, a consolation prize?
Kat
2024-10-08 21:15:22 +0000 UTCI agree, Kat. I've always felt that Josh was okay with the fantasy, not the reality. In that moment. He wanted it to be a game, because it was *their* game. It was for him/them. When reality showed up and he saw it was for *her* and he was just a side game so she wouldn't get in trouble, he snapped. Yes, I believe her when she also wanted him to enjoy it, but it was still merely a side play to the main course of her enjoying being wicked and awful. He wants her to be wicked and awful for them. Not for herself or for an asshole like Devlin.
L_S87
2024-10-08 21:02:11 +0000 UTCYeah, it's a bit hard to believe the light bulb hasn't gone off for Josh regarding Hyun, but it could be that he is simply accepting of the idea that Hyun and Kimmy got close and maybe even romantically involved, while they were apart and doesn't feel aggrieved by that. Of course we know there's more, but Josh maybe wouldn't think to go there (or is in denial of it), so maybe that's all we'll get on it. I personally believe it's in there to set up Josh finding out. But maybe this is the "dark" ending...Josh ends up with Kimmy and his baby, but to do so, is shutting his brain off to the questions he probably knows he should ask but may not want the answers to. Cause the answers may result in him wanting a different outcome. At the very least, if we don't get Josh finding out, we need at least Kimmy acknowledging she's not telling him and why she's making that choice.
JL23
2024-10-08 20:55:58 +0000 UTCI think this is what Josh wanted when he asked Kimmy to sleep with Devlin in front of him. He wanted her to “make it mine,” and now she is.
Kat
2024-10-08 20:50:34 +0000 UTCYeah, while the conversation doesn't make it clearly obvious, it does paint a picture that feels that way. And while i love the conversation that Kimmy and Josh had at the end, because it's a LONG time coming, that snippet with Hyun paints Kimmy as a stone cold bitch that deserves to lose everything she currently has. If she's truly been shacking up with Hyun just so she can get her rocks off and not be sexually frustrated while waiting for Josh and now happily switches to Josh because he's who she truly loves and wants, while cutting Hyun loose... She's an irredeemable devil. A truly awful person. That means she's lying to Josh, choosing to put Hyun first, but only because she knows that if Josh finds out about their relationship, he'd implode over her supporting Hyun for months while ignoring him, yet lying about why she waited a year. Lying about him being the only one she cares about or that matters. Hell, she's not saving Hyun's feelings by keeping this secret, she's saving herself so she can have her cake and eat it too without Josh walking out the door. Because that's what he'd do if he knew the extent of what went on between Kimmy and Hyun. He couldn't help but be devastated by Kimmys lack of communication or support, yet shacking up with Hyun for months. Hopefully we get a clearer picture of what actually went on between them. I'd love it if Josh sat both of them down and said he knows what they've been doing and they're both awful people for doing that behind his back while he was alone and suffering and now want to act like nothing's going on because of Colleen.
L_S87
2024-10-08 20:49:08 +0000 UTCThe logic that concerns me is: 'This is the way it HAS to be, because Josh is Colleen's father.' That feels very 1950's Leave it to Beaver, to me. The assumption that a child should be with his biological father, no matter what. There are plenty, plenty of men, who don't deserve to be fathers, and they're only qualification is where their sperm landed. That logic just reeks of male entitlement. In what ways has Josh been a father to Colleen? Colleen has spent her whole life being loved and parented by Hyun. Without a doubt, the more loving thing for Colleen (right now) would be to choose Hyun, not Josh.
Pete
2024-10-08 20:42:01 +0000 UTCSo the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Do we think that’s actually going to happen and Josh will survive it?

2024-10-08 20:41:45 +0000 UTCWhile I might have griped and grumbled about how we got here, that conversation between Kimmy and Josh has been a *long* time coming. And what I was hoping we'd get out of this. Amazingly well written, KT. However long it took, I'm glad you perfected it, because it is. Josh's actions, him finally accepting what he wants, showing Kimmy his acceptance of it, and of her by asking her to talk about this painful stuff so they can use it for sex, in an almost cathartic fashion. Wash away the sins by reliving them and getting off to them so they can bring pleasure from the pain. Love it. As long as Kimmy is telling the truth about not betraying him or lying to him. Because we know shes got one huge lie of ommission hanging over her head. Which is probably the only part of this chapter that I feel is a mistake. A convenient plot hole to not destroy the rest of what's going on. Josh made it clear earlier they he knows something's up between Hyun and Kimmy. So for him to plot hole that and act like he doesn't know what he knows when he sees Kimmy's and Hyun's "strange" embrace, with her obviously distraught (and one obvious reason why she would be) it feels all sorts of backward and wrong for him to ignore it and walk upstairs like it's nothing. I will say there's still opportunities for Josh to ask the questions, and maybe not wanting to give it away is why we have this weird memory/plot hole ignorance of fact is a way to add suspense so we're not sure how that truly ends. We'll see. Would be kind of awesome (and maybe awful) if in the middle of sex if Josh asked Kimmy "So, when you and Hyun were fucking, did you share her with Devlin, or is this a more recent thing since you didn't have sex with a *man* for the last year."

2024-10-08 20:34:30 +0000 UTCSo Kimmy and Hyun have been in a relationship all this time. Not a surprise. I don’t think she’s planning on telling Josh about Hyun. I just don’t. She’s putting Hyun’s feelings first, and to be honest, that’s kind of her. I feel badly for Hyun, I do, but she’s right. Colleen is Josh’s daughter. Hyun can’t be publicly shacking up with her daughter’s Aunt Kimmy. What surprises me is how easily Kimmy can go from one to the other. I know you can love more than one person. It’s never happened to me, and I could never be in a poly relationship, but I can understand it. This is not that, though. I see Kimmy as turning it on for Josh, and conveniently turning it off for Hyun. Did Hyun realize that Kimmy goal this past year was getting Josh back? How much did she really punish herself, according to Hyun, if she had her “friend” by her side, and in her bed? I wonder how honest Kimmy’s going to be with Josh about the night of the Royal York. Is she going to tell him what he inadvertently injested that night after she got home? Is she going to tell him about what she did outside of The Dragon on the night of his party? Is she finally going to tell him the truth, that Devlin fingered her in the front hall of their apartment?

2024-10-08 20:29:10 +0000 UTCIn looking at the intro KT provided regarding the chapter delay, I do wonder if the change that sets up what to come is that conversation with Hyun, and the revelation (maybe) that she was still sexually involved with Kimmy. I would caution we don't know that's exactly what that snippet indicated. It could just mean that this is officially Hyun coming to terms that nothing can ever be with Kimmy now that Josh is back. But I do feel it's setting up that Josh is going to find out they were involved, which to me is a good thing. If he knows that and still moves forward, then he's made a decision informed of all the facts, whether I agree with it or not. I just don't see that being all we get, that Kimmy lets down Hyun easy and we all move on, and Josh never knows. But I guess we'll find out.

2024-10-08 20:28:08 +0000 UTCYeah, that's how I read this too. We'll see if that's actually the way it was or not. Hyun's reaction paints that picture, though. At least to me.

2024-10-08 20:24:07 +0000 UTCYeah, it's kind of obvious from the way she's talking, she wanted Colleen for herself. For her and Kimmy to raise together. Which, in a way, makes me like her more, because she wants that, and knowing she's losing it is killing her inside, yet even with that, she still did the right thing, after doing so many wrong things and pushed Josh to stay. Because it's right for Colleen. And for Kimmy. The darker part of this is that I get the feeling they were intimate, often, right up until Josh showed up. Otherwise she'd have been more resigned to this fate and not so distraught. And that bothers me. Their closeness makes me worry about what might happen once Kimmy has Josh wrapped around her finger again. Then again, Kimmy talking here, about it having to be this way, sounds somewhat final. We'll see.

2024-10-08 20:23:19 +0000 UTCSo Kimmy and Hyun were still ongoing up until this point? Not shocking. Kimmy always has her ends covered! 😉

2024-10-08 20:15:40 +0000 UTC“You know this is the way it has to be,” she [Kimmy] whispered. “He’s Colleen’s father,” Hyun said. “I know, Kimmy. I know." This line of reasoning does NOT sit right with me at all, for a slew of reasons.
