If you love hard hitting matches especially from Shibata, you should watch Shibata vs Ishii from either Wrestle Kingdom 10 or G1 climax 23. Both are fantastic, hard hitting matches and the one from Wrestle Kingdom is the match that made me fall in love with NJPW

2025-06-03 03:30:23 +0000 UTCIf you're in for a long one, I'd recommend Kenta Kobashi vs. Kensuke Sasaki (07/18/05), though that one isn't NJPW. For something shorter, and significantly more recent, Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Hirooki Goto (02/11/25) is one of the best NJPW matches this year.

Especially Bryan danielson vs Kenta from glory by honor 5 night 2 and Kenta vs Low ki from final battle 2005. Both matches are on YouTube in full

He defended the title a number of 12 times (also a record) against people like Omega and Shibata, of course, Naito, Tanahashi, Zack Sabre Jr., Minoru Suzuki, NOAH legend Naomichi Marufuji, and even Cody Rhodes, among others. The entire reign is worth a watch because, even if you already know Okada is going to win, he's always going to give his all and so will his adversary. I would put this title reign only on par with Kenta Kobashi's legendary 735 day reign as GHC Heavyweight champion. A name I'm sure you'll sooner or later become familiar with, and, like many of us, you'll also become a fan.
