I had an incredible high school English teacher my senior year who was just like Mr. Keating! He loved us all so much. Definitely, the best teacher I have ever had! I've kept up with him all of the 32 years since I graduated. He still teaches part-time and continues to inspire his students. So glad you enjoyed the movie! The part where Neil told Mr. Keating that he had talked to his dad and he was going to let him do the play the next night was a lie. Neil never confronted his father, and just did the play anyway. Mr. Keating could tell Neil was lying. That's why his Dad was so upset when he showed up at the play because Neil wasn't supposed to be there. There's so much to learn from this movie. To me, this is the BEST movie Robin Williams ever made!

It's my favorite movie of his! The lead female actress is the gorgeous Liv Tyler, who is the daughter of Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith! Aerosmith has 4 tracks in this movie, along with the theme song 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing'! I promise you both will LOVE this movie!

You notice that it had no sex, no violence, nothing really but dialogue and a darned good story. They just don't make them like this anymore. Bit of trivia, it was filmed at St Andrews Prep School in Delaware and some of the boys were used as extras. The cat on the mat smark aleck kid was an actual student there and he made more money on this film with his few scenes than his actual English teacher made all year! Just goes to show, teachers have always been underpaid!
