A personal piece that ive been working on for a few months now in the background.
I almost want to call it a "Vent art" but venting tends to mean the need to expel emotion for the sake of release, but this one is moreso a reminder to myself.
This has some pretty obvious Ghost in the Shell inspiration, as in like 90% of the inspiration lmao. Many stories, characters, and ESPECIALLY songs from the Ghost in the Shell series
emphasize certain philosophical concepts of identity and motivation, "Why do you keep living if you know that nothing may be real, including yourself" kinda stuff. Except GitS tends to emphasize "Why not?" and seems to promote the idea that you should find whatever your soul, your "Ghost" desires and pursue it with everything you have.
Now, I ain't some war-hardened, battle-addicted combat veteran like most of the characters in GitS, but the ideas easily transfer to anyone who sees them and relates, and you know my trauma-fried brain snatched that shit up the moment I caught a whiff of it lmao
My favorite Ghost in the Shell music changes from time to time but currently "Inner Universe", Stand Alone Complex's first opening theme has stuck as my favorite for a bit now, which is why the Latin/Russian and english lyrics are slapped all over the place. The whole setting is inspired by The Major's leap of faith building jump that they make her do in like almost every part of the series. It's iconic as fuck of course but it also fits with her character and the way she never hesitates to follow her own path, even when she has to take leaps of faith based on what her "Ghost" tells her.
Even when you find your inner voice, your truest inspiration, it can easily be drown out again, whether by trauma, doubt, other people, and most often fear. You may find it hard, even impossible to hold onto that inspiration for long, the only way to find and follow it is to trust yourself to, to take your hands off of the wheel.
Never again be afraid to take the leaps you feel in your heart, that's what I wanted to remind myself.
