Young Blood Priest
2023-12-29 12:29:27 +0000 UTCAww, man. I was ready for this one for several reasons lol. But first- *taps mic* Name Check: Sarah's Throwback Boo - Cal. Mrs. S' Throwback Boo - Carlton Redding. Rachel's Dead Bodyguard/Boy Toy/Monitor - Daniel. Rachel's Parents - Professor Susan & Ethan Duncan. The Fish People - The Proletheans. Ginger Baby - Grace/Gracie. Prolethean Dad - Henrik. Mr. Mosey Prolethean - Mark. Siobhan - Mrs. S. "Alison's in recovery. Cosima and Delphine are locked in some kind of transgressive, lesbian, geek spiral, bound to end in tears." - Felix's summary update to Sarah about her sisters. Probably because she didn't think to ask, although to be fair, she's been extremely busy. But Felix's holding down the Clone Club fort. I don't think he's had any personal time these past 2 episodes since he's been helping everyone else lol. I guess we can start with Allison. Whew! I don't miss those hangover days for sure๐ซ. Poor baby is in rehab, but maybe this will be a good thing? I mean, she clearly does have a problem, but now she's "alone" and away from her sisters, with her monitor/husband holding the relationship she has with her children as the barganing chip. I'm glad Felix went to go check on her. Recovery can be a rough transition, if she even wants to get help in that department, and they say a strong support system is one of the things you need as your foundation. No mimosas though lol. Meanwhile, Cosima is depressing herself watching deceased Jennifer Fitzsimmons' declining, health vlogs in her lab. I know it's probably good for research but I can't imagine how hard it would be to watch that knowing that you're dying from the same illness as you watch it play out video after video. It'd be like watching your future before it happens while you're trying to prevent it. Since she hasn't told her sisters she's sick, she doesn't have the support she probably needs. I liked that Cosima thanked Sarah for negotiation getting her own lab in her deal while she was disguise disguised as her. I'm also glad Cosima still being "the scientist" and "geek monkey", getting back to video chatting and helping Sarah by dropping info/research and a doobie in her hand (although she might want to consider switching to edibles or something because the smoke can't be helping the cough ๐ฉ). I like when those two are on the same page, working together instead of fighting. They bounce of each other very well when they're collabing info. You can hear Cosima trying to supress her coughs and kept clearing her throat during the video calls, so Sarah wouldn't know. Also, last episode, Cosima & Delphine did the autopsy on Jennifer's body. When they noticed that the polyps on her uterus, they came to the thought that it may have been the root of the illness. Cosima questioned if it had some correlation with Jennifer's in fertility. Paul in season 1 told Sarah that he was there when Beth found out that she couldn't have children. So, Cosima brings up the Greek Mythology with the story of Leda and the Swan, where Zeus came down to Sparta from Mount Olympus, disguised himself as a swan and slept with the Spartan queen, Leda. She ended up pregnant, they had twins together. They were half human & half god. (I was into Greek Mythology in middle school and early high school, and let's just say Zeus basically needs to be put on a registry -if you catch my drift- for all of his unfortunate actions, so the actual tale is bit darker than Cosima's sanitized summary ๐). She notes that it seems to be some form of military connection and pointed out what seems to be a soldier in the back of the picture. Is it military related? Some form of private security? Oh, about Felix seeing Cosima's bloody cough in the season 1 finale. So what happened was Cosima coughed up blood in the bathroom sink. Felix came in the bathroom doorway to check on her, but then he got a knock at his front door, and that's when Delphine showed up. So he didn't see the blood, but he definitely noticed her aggressive, coughing fit. Those Proletheans are- I have no words. Poor Helena. Such a violating experience. Helena could have easily killed Gracie and it would be justified, but she spared her, only putting her to sleep. Gracie seems to have a real problem with Helena, viewing her with the more "tradtional", Prolethean perspective that Tomas had, instead of her father, Henrik. And she's repeatedly been openly disdainful of Helena. She's lucky Helena didn't give her that "forever sleep". Those creeps really tried to sit there tell Helena that all those people were in the room to say, "hey there"?! Helena may be "childlike", but she's not stupid. She looked so disturbed and the way she flinched and curled into the bed when Henrik tried to caress her face. Then when she walked into that weird, medical room and those drugged-hazed memories hit her, the look on her face. Helena DOES have issues and this is one more thing added to the list of trauma ๐ฅบ. The part where Art was looking through the camera and jumped back when Helena came into his view running towards him cracks me up everytime because I would have jumped too lol. If I'm not mistaken, I think Art knew, or had an idea that Helena was on the ranch. I'm not sure if he knew that was Helena though. Sarah told him at the end of 2x1 that the Proletheans were "Helena's people" (he asked her who Helena was and it cut to the woman in question stumbling through the ER). I doubt she told Art, a cop, that she killed her. Then in 2x2, Angie showed him a picture of the "Jane Doe" in the hospital, and in the last episode, she told him that the "Shakira haired look alike" was taken out the hospital by an unindentified man (Mark). At least Art was able to slow the Proletheans down and at least made sure Helena didn't get shot (again) lol. The slew footed comment made me think of Tony Baker with the turkey attacking/coaching the little boy on the snow skis though lol. Aye, Sarah be having these dudes risking it all, don't she? First Paul, now Cal lol. Cal really took his truck, hid Kira, and rammed his truck in the side of that car to save Sarah. Nevermond she already scammed him out of $10k like 8 years prior and his cop friend just got murdered indirectly because of her. Now dude got an RV, took his newfound daughter and his criminal baby mama, then hit the road. He's picking up on this dad thing quickly lol. Sarah: Why the hell didn't you answer any of my texts? Felix: Texts from you? I must've been busy. Welp. Felix is still mad at Sarah, but even so, he's still jumping into to help her because that's what siblings do lol. He's really not vibing with the whole "Daddy Cal is suddenly put in the picture" vibe. And apparently Sarah's a terrible burglar according to Felix lol. I guess that's more of Felix's criminal specialties since in season 1 he was the one that searched Beth's condo for the surveillance equipment she had. "I never leave prints when I burgle" lol. I do appreciate that Sarah is bothered by her brother being genuinely angry with her, even if she's only expressed it to Kira and not Felix himself (she should still apologize at least). I do also appreciate that Sarah, although tending to keep stuff from everyone and stays :guarded", that she tries to be honest, open, and vulnerable with Kira (although, to be fair, Kira's seems like a kid that's very hard to lie to lol). This story started with Sarah trying to come home to be a real mom to Kira and in the midst of all of this chaos, she's still trying. I know Sarah's tired. Started the episode probably with a concussion from a nasty auto wreck, to getting tied up and cut at the end. She was ready to start firing at cops in the beginning, but the cops were rushing to Cal's house because the cop that got killed last episode called for backup. Once them cops hear "officer down", nothing else matters at that point lol. Cal had to remind Sarah that she was literally holding the murder weapon that killed the cop. If she gotten caught, she would probably need more than Art to get her out of that situation lol. Now she's decided to go find Mrs. S and search her house because she believes Mrs. S is lying about how much she knows regarding "Project Leda" and needs answers. Eerie Kira's still seems safe, for now, and with her daddy. She knows about "Auntie Cosima", although she hasn't met her yet. I like that she's learning about her "aunties" existence. And of course she catches on that Cal is listening in on the police on the scanner lol. It was sweet of Cal to try and distract her from all the heaviness of their situation. Keeping her a kid. And of course, once again, that kid displays her eerieness by telling Cal that Sarah has a "guardian angel" watching her. Turned to be the "angry" angel, but a guardian nonetheless lol. So, Mrs. S/Siobhan finds Benjamin to get whatever she needs to get to London to find Carlton, but Benjamin tells her Carlton had already been in town for the past week. Also, the way she just casually and calmly threatened him without actually threatening him with the Birdwatchers. And you could tell Benjamin was shook. Even her "Hello, Benjamin" felt threatening, like a hitman sitting in the backseat lol. Allison's "Hello, Donnie" from episode 2x2 was scary, but in a more crazy, white women, Lifetime movie thriller kinda way lol... "Mrs. S, where you going showing yo kneecaps?" I had to pause at that part because I was in real tears at work when you said that, especially since I knew what was coming ๐. We should have known something was up when she came in with those knee-high boots lol. Mama said she's here for information and a good time, and not exactly in that order ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ Last week, Shamonda was commenting on Sarah getting her leg "up there" when she was getting fresh with Cal in the hallway. My mind was like, "Wait til you see her mama next episode" ๐. Had me clutching my pearls when I first saw that scene and I still blush 10 years later because this show was doing a lot for something that came on BBC America ๐คญ. Both Sarah and Mrs. S decided to throw it back on a throwback boo in back to back episodes ๐. Baddie-GILF Mrs. S out here playing exhibitionist her little friend, Carlton, in a basement hallway, outside the bathroom. I want to be like, "Ma'am, that is illegal", as if she didn't just give out 2 headshots 2 episodes prior lol. At least now we know where Sarah & Felix get their antics from. They get it from their mama ๐. Felix seems to even have her taste when he saw Carlton's picture, "Hello, Stallion" lol. Carlton: "There they are, eyes that could make me stab me own mum, if they asked." Siobhan: "Still a poet." Sarah's not the only one that be getting 'em hooked I see because that's a wild statement, especially since this is the first time they've seen each other in 20 years lol. I'm gonna start calling it "That Longevity Hook". Okay, I'm done now ๐ญ... Random Song Fact?: The song playing during that scene is "Rita Mae Young" by The Record Company, but if I'm nit mistsken, the song wasn't actually released until a couple of years after the episode aired. Groovy baseline. Good morning, Rita Don't you miss your wine? Don't you miss your body Bein' next to mine? Got a hollow heart and I'm feelin' wrong Got a dollar in my pocket For a midnight song Between Carlton (Roger Cross is Jamaican-Canadian) & Siobhan (Maria Doyle Kennedy is Irish), there's a lot of accents going on in their scenes together, so I'll try to help y'all out lol. I like that they brought back the photo album Mrs. S showed Sarah in 1x7 When Sarah had asked what the photo album was. Mrs. S said, "Mostly me, but some of you". It's one of my favorite Mrs. S/Sarah scenes as that episode was the first big turning point in their mother/daughter relationship. You know, before Mrs. S started feeling sketchy ๐. (Also, this just reminded me that y'all forgot to put your 1x7 reaction in your OB Collection lol). So, recap on what Mrs. S told Sarah about Carlton in season 1 (as she looked at his picture so fondly in her photo album lol) : Mrs. S told Sarah that she and a bunch of women were part of a network where she would foster children, but they were really a safehouse. "Some of us worked in Social Services, helping women and kids, refugees, deportees, radicals on the run, that kind of thing." A lot of them would come through Carlton's human smuggling pipeline, occassionally "a child in the black, a child to hide". Carlton brought Sarah to Siobhan to hide her "in the black", but he never told her why. Then right before he got arrested (for 15 years), she said Carlton warned and begged Siobhan to move far away and hide Sarah deeper. So, Mrs. S left everyone she knew back home, took Sarah & Felix and went across the pond from London to Canada (he must have reeeally trusted her with Sarah, I guess, because she left her whole life in London and had to start over with her two now forever kids). So, at the bar, Carlton told Siobhan that Brenda the Birdwatcher was compromised (does he knows it was her? lol), Siobhan tells Carlton that Amelia (twins sestras' surrogate) came back into the picture "after all this time" (she doesn't tell him that she's dead). Siobhan wants info on what he knows about Project Leda and he tells her he only knew the ferryman, Kasov. The rest of the dialogue is as followed: Siobhan: "20 years ago, you brought an orphan to my door. 'Put her in the black,' you said, 'as black as it gets,' and I didn't ask much, but, now, I know. I know what she is, old friend." Carlton: "Then you know more than me. And I don't want to hear it." Siobhan: "At least, take me as far as Kasov. If Sarah digs any further into this, God knows, a whole world of shit is going to unravel." Make of that what you will ๐... Rachel texted Daniel that her flight arrival was 8AM, so Sarah decided to do get intel on the Duncan daughter before she got back. So, technically we didn't get a cloneswap scene, but Sarah did impersonate Rachel on the phone with the front desk as a way to sneak into her suite. "I'd like the lights on and the suite to be a perfect 68ยฐ...And don't linger, Troy. I'll know if you do." Even though we don't really know Rachel very well, it felt like an accurate impersonation lol. Rachel must be a terror with the way Felix's little concierge "friend" was rushing to her room to fulfill such an absurd service lol. Okay, so the whole Sarah/Helena, Rachel, & the Duncan's family theory, according to Cosima, seemed to have gone like this: Amelia told Sarah that she was a surrogate for a couple that turned out to be scientists (Susan & Ethan Duncan). So, Sarah/Helena was supposed to go to the Duncan's, but because Amelia ran away with the baby(ies) while she was still pregnant, so the Duncans ended up geting Rachel to raise instead. So, Sarah/Helena was going to be raised by the Duncan's, hence Cosima's comment that Sarah could have ended up being "Rachel" like she was intended. Amelia really saved Sarah (and Helena, depending on your perspective), especially seeing how Rachel has turned out. I hope I explained it right lol. According to Cosima, Professor Susan & Ethan Duncan were geneticists who went to Cambridge for molecular biology. They joint-published papers on recombinant DNA from 1974, until they "disappeared" around 1976, most likely due to them starting their work on "Project Leda" around that time, which was top secret (I guess you can't just be walking around are willy nilly when you're doing illegal, human cloning projects lol). Then they resurfaced as incinerated, dead bodies with 4 other scientists when there was a lab explosion when the two of them were leading a medical research project. In season 1 we learned that the clone sisters seem to have been born between around March - April of '84, as far as we know. The tape Sarah watched said "Cambridge 1991" on it. I love how they made the juxtaposition of Sarah watching a seemingly loving, family video of young Rachel and her parents while Cosima is speaking her psychological thoughts as to possibly why Rachel seems cold was because wasn't shown love as a child or wasn't allowed emotional attachments. Man, those Sarah/Daniel scenes were tense the moment he walked in the suite. The whole shower scene was terrifying because Sarah literally couldn't get herself out of the situation. She'd been mostly getting by the skin of her teeth the whole series so far, usually by finding a way out by using her criminal skillset, quick thinking, and occassional luck through an outside force or an ally. She tried to emotionally manipulate Daniel into not hurting after she put 2 & 2 together that Daniel is Rachel's monitor/boy toy, when she realized that he was really going to torture her. "I look like her, don't I? I look just like her." Rachel seemed to have had a boy toy just as cold is herself because it didn't faze him one bit. (I can't hate on zipties though as they had kept the front bumper on my car for like 2 years at one point ๐). I'll never forget the first time this episode aired and the Helena killing Daniel happened. I was watching it in the living room by myself hanging at my parent's house, and my oldest sister walked in the house right before Helena came on the screen. All she saw was a man bleeding out dying, a woman tied up freaking out as some feral looking woman in a wedding dress, covered in blood, creeping towards her. Meanwhile, I'm jumping out of my seat freaking out right along with Sarah. My sister was shook asking me what I was watching, thinking I was watching some horror movie lol. I ended up harassing her and my brother in law into watching the series as well and she said when they got to this scene, when Daniel went to check out the noise, she realized that it was the same scene she walked in on and started freaking out, while her husband looked at her confused, until Helena walked in ๐. I love that we don't actually see the fight. Helena made such quick work of Daniel with just that knife that he didn't even get a chance to fire the gun he was already holding. And the way the killer was revealed was perfect. As soon as the theme dropped, you know EXACTLY who it was. Shamonda: *immediately absorbing the fear* "Oh, I don't know if- she might cut you, too." Ralph: "She's gonna cut her lose. It's okay. She considers you family." Shamonda: "Ralph, she tried to kill her." Ralph: *calmly having faith in that twin connection* "It's okay." Y'all were having two different experiences during that scene. So was Sarah and Helena ๐๐คฃ๐ "Hello, sestra." The Twins Are Reunited ๐ค. I love how both Sarah & Helena spat in Daniel's face during that scene #twinning. Man, the look of sheer terror on Sarah's face when Helena walked in though. She was shaking. The last she saw of Helena in the season 1 finale was her lying in her own blood after shooting her in what she probably assumed was her heart. I feel like it's easy to forget that Sarah had no clue that Helena was still alive because we've known since the end of 2x1. Sarah, in the beginning of that same episode, had simply told Felix that Helena was "gone", so it doesn't even seem like she's told anybody that she "killed" Helena (wouldn't seem likely that she'd tell a homicide detective that she actually caught a body lol. I guess all of the sisters are kinda keeping their own secrets from each other). To go from being tortured by Daniel, only to end up face to face with the twin sister she thought she killed, covered in blood, stalking towards her while she's still tied up to that shower. Tatiana's acting was so good. Sarah looked like she was being haunted by a vengeful ghost and she probably felt that she was going to die. A problem she thought she got rid of. Helena on the other hand saved sister. In the previous episode, Gracie told Helena that her father wanted Helena to be part of their family. Helena told Gracie that she already got a family: a sestra and a niece. Like Helena said, Sarah seems to be all she has now. And she looked scared. A different kind of scared than Sarah. She's afraid of what was done to her on that ranch. At that moment, she looked like she just wanted the comfort of the only family she has: her twin sister. Granted she's wielding a bloody knife as she's doing it which can understandably give off some mixed signals. (And yes that shot is crazy with Helena hugging Sarah while she's tied up is crazy and it still gets me. The production were flexing on us with that one lol). The part that always hits my heart though is after Helena starts hugging Sarah, and Sarah goes from being horrified, to being completely overwhelmed about everything that just transpired, breaking down into sobbing tears, and resting her head on top of Helena's. Have I mentioned that Sarah is tired? Lol I get tired just watching her go through it and I've seen this multiple times, so I can only imagine how she's been feeling ๐ฉ. But she was saved by an "angry", guardian angel... What's Next: Will Allison shave her armpits with the door open in rehab? Will Sarah & Felix find out that their mother could have been the inspiration for Rick James' "Superfreak"? Will Helena be able to get those stains out of that dress? Might need some bleach and a prayer for that last one lol. Great reaction as always ๐.
