The Expanse Season 1 Episode 7

Comments

Hey, Shamonda you're right, there is so much detail that it's easy to miss stuff. No spoilers, but I'll try to address several things yall may have missed. Holden has 8 parents. His parents live as a Co-op. And had a child together (genetic engineering) as a way to have more land that can be passed on to Holden. Christian Avarasala made a comment about that, when she was at the door speaking with Holden's mom. That their co-op had a baby to keep the land. Holden's parent group seems like it was a way to get around government rules or something. Avarasala made it sound like the group was bucking the system or something. Miller as you know was fired. But you see he's having a hard time letting go of the case. He seems to be obsessed with Julie Mao. He keeps returning to her apartment. That was Julies apartment that he broken into. You saw the little hamster wheel where her robot pet was in previous episodes. He searches her apartment then finds the chips that he cashes out for money and he takes a bracelet or piece of jewelry that belonged to Julie. The message that he made was sent to Julie's dad, the one who commissioned Miller's old job to track her down. The info that "Art" gave Miller about a ship he was looking for, the Anubis is why Miller is traveling to another destination at the end of this episode. Miller thinks the ship the Anubis has something to do with Julie. But Art tells him that the Anubis never docked at Eros, where he is and where Miller is going, but an escape shuttle that belongs to the Anubis did dock on Eros and it's still there. So Miller is on his way to Eros to check that out. You've already seen the Anubis once before and you will see it again soon, maybe in the next episode. When you see it again it will be very important. Back to the crew of the Roci- Do you remember when Naomi told Amos that she was scared of what he might do and that is why she didn't tell him that she knew that Holden was the one to log the distress beacon that ended up getting the Canterbury blown up? Amos has always behaved a little .....off. This episode it really came out. He seems very bent on killing as the easiest/best solution and doesn't even react when Holden pulls the gun on him. Even afterwards he smiles about how lucky they were that Alex got the code in time. He didn't even blink an eye as he walked away from Holden holding the gun to his head. What do you think is up with Amos? A concrete explanation is never given in the tv series or the books. You do get glimpses of Amos's background, how he grew up, he talked about it in the last episode. There are a lot of theories floating around the Expanse fandom about why Amos acts the way he does. Is it a matter of his biology or how he was brought up?? It was made clear again in this episode, whatever Amos's deal is, that Naomi seemingly has some type of control over him. Control that Amos accepts because when she tells him to do something he listens to her and he calls her Boss. The DB guy told the truth that he is a spy. But is he Avarasala's spy or the spy of the other UN guy, Errinwright, that called Avarasala? Errinwright said that once Holden got to Eros that would be the end of Holden's journey, maybe he has a team in place to capture Holden and the crew. But Holden told the spy that they aren't headed for Eros. Why? Remember when Holden's group met with Fred Johnson (Tyrese). They decided to team up and cooperate, so Fred had some coordinates for a ship supposedly sent by someone named Lyonel Polanski. Fred gave that to Holden and that is where they are going and what you saw on the monitor on the Roci, that asteroid. That is where the coordinates that Fred Johnson gave them is taking them, to the asteroid. Last episode, Fred may have told Holden who Lyonel Polanski is, but maybe after you watch the next episode, you can guess who Polanski is? Last thing to remember, this will come up more in the next few episodes, the Belt is still fighting to be recognized as a separate and legitimate nation. The political arm of the Belt is the OPA, but it is broken in to different factions though. Fred Johnson is the OPA faction leader who is trying to go about things in a strategic political way. Anderson Dawes is the OPA leader of the more revolutionary, by any means necessary type of faction.
