208 Newsletter
Added 2025-02-05 08:00:08 +0000 UTCAnother week at the video store, and another great episode. Before I get into the goodies this week -- I just wanted to remind everyone in the DFW area that Roger will be presenting Killing Zoe and The Rules of Attraction at the Texas Theater on February 27th and February 28th. I'll be there also to do the Q&A! If you want to hear more about the transfers we are showing, check out my appearance on the Texas Theater Calendar Podcast.
Now, on to this week's newsletter!
For reasons that will soon become apparent to my Aftershow listeners, I don't have a whole lot for this newsletter besides this picture of the laserdisc for Two-Minute Warning.

I love a back of a laserdisc ... more space means more things to look at! I really enjoyed this movie a lot, it might take the top spot for my favorite of this season thus far.
Now, since I don't have box art for The Gold Rush and for The Pom Pom Girls, I thought I'd highlight some awesome stuff going on in the community chat and at the Cinema Club.
If you guys listen to the Cinema Club episodes, you'll know that we had some super special screenings last week.
First up, we had so much interest in the double feature of Coven and Modus Operandi that we added a second showtime. I loved hearing viewer testimonials about the screening.

GREGG SIMON: Loved the introduction from Mark Borchardt last night, and thanks Matt, Gala and company for another once in a lifetime screening event last night at The Video Archives Cinema Club!!! Was also a ton of fun and inspiring to meet and hear some of the truly unique MODUS OPERANDI behind the scenes stories from Frankie Latina and Mark Escribano as well!
ADRIANO: It was really great! Directors Frankie Latina showed up and gave an emotional presentation of the films. I admittedly thought he was very shy at first, or perhaps had stage fright, but it became clear that it’s been a difficult month for him with the fires and it was just really moving for him that everyone came out to see the movie. One of my favorite screenings at the cinema club easily, it was very meaningful.
Another highlight last week was the screening of Waterworld, which had an incredible surprise guest...

Peter Rader, the writer of water world, came to the Cinema Club for a surprise Q&A with Cinema Club manager Matt Landsman.

NEIL261: Yeah, intros are cool. But did you know the Cinema Club does Q&As too! The freaking screenwriter of Waterworld was there last night! It was a total surprise and he did an intro AND a Q&A! Matt hosted a great 40min discussion with him just chatting all things Waterworld. This is why I love LA!
Here's some other special pictures from the evening.
I love seeing what goes on at the Cinema Club, so any time you see a movie there and want to discuss your experience, make sure you post a comment in the community chat for a chance to get featured.
For all my Aftershow listeners -- my tape for One Night Only finally arrived! So next week, we'll be taking a look back at that title. For everyone else ... be on the look out for next week's clues!
