209.5 Newsletter
Added 2025-02-26 20:00:13 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
If you join in the community chats you'll know that I have been down for the count with the gnarliest cold this past week, hence why there was no newsletter for episode 209. Thankfully, Roger came to the rescue to help with this week's Aftershow audio (a very special episode in my opinion, thank you dad for saving the day).
As we had nothing for your reading material, I've decided to unlock this week's Aftershow newsletter for all bring you the newsletter regarding The Spoilers.
This was a very special sort of episode that we don't normally do, and in all honesty, we were supposed to pair The Spoilers (1930) with two movies from next week. However, as things go, when we started talking about The Spoilers (1930) we started talking about the 1942 version and the 1955 version and ... well, we decided to make it a Spoilers Special. Especially with the 1930's version being extremely difficult to find (impossible unless you've seen the print), I'm glad we ended up bringing in the other movies because I want you guys to be able to see the movies we talk about -- believe me, I know the pain of not being able to find them!
If you ever want more movies that the guys mentioned, always make sure to check out Mike Kenny's lists. He picks out all of the titles mentioned. Here's the list for this week's main episode and this week's aftershow!
But, also, because the 1930's one was viewed on film ... and the 1955 one was on a bootleg ... all I've got to show is the 1942 version box!
This is an original Video Archives box number "2203".
I still don't understand where the "virtuous ship captain" claim about Wayne comes from.
I've really enjoyed hearing everyone's "fan casting" for their version of The Spoilers. Join in the comments below and tell me what era you'd shoot your version of The Spoilers in and who would be your actors!
Make sure you head on over to the community chat to discuss this week's clues, and figure them all out together.
Oh, and speaking of...I pulled the winners for the customer card giveaway! These ten people will be receiving cards in the mail signed by Quentin and Roger: Josh Goedert, Meghann Salus, Vincent Zahedi, Tom Benton, Josh Maurer, Lauren Hayden, Average Fella, John Scott Tynes, Mike Flynn, and Raul Perez.
Don't see your name above? Don't worry, I have more cards to pass out soon! Anyhow, I'll see you guys next week for some non-Spoilers content :-)

I lost most of my personal belongings in this long story, and an autographed Death Proof poster was one of the casualties. So it's beyond cool to read that I won! I'm very excited. It will be cherished. Thank you!
