211 Newsletter

Wow -- what a week it has been! Sorry for the newsletter being so late in the week, but I have been all over the place setting up our super secret surprise: The Video Archives Podcast Live event!

We're so excited to be able to put this on, thanks to Patreon, and we're also excited that we get to share this event with all of our Patrons. RSVP is up now, but spots are first come first serve with paying members gaining priority entry.

I have seen some questions regarding the live event, so I gathered those up and I hopped on a call with Patreon to get some answers.

Q: If I registered for the event as a free member, but I upgraded my membership to a paying tier after the fact, does that change anything?

A: Yes! Your membership will be verified at checkin, so if you are a paying member, please to head to the paying member line.

Q: It says I registered, but I didn't get an email confirmation. What do I do?

A: Check your spam folder. If you still can't find it, don't worry -- your name that you registered with will be at the door.

Q: How early do I have to get in line?

A: Unfortunately this is not something I can predict. Doors open at promptly at 5PM and are open until 6PM (or until theater is at capacity). I know that some of you are driving in from pretty far and want to make sure you get in, but I cannot predict when the line will form. However, we do ask that you do not obstruct the sidewalk and operational businesses.

Q: What about Pam's?

A: Pam's will still be open for business for regular hours! We encourage you to stop by and grab a pastry & coffee before the show.

Q: Can I bring Pam's into the theater?

A: Yes, and we encourage it. No outside food or beverage will be allowed besides Pam's.

Q: What about concessions inside the theater?

A: Concessions will be open and operating as normal.

Q: What movie will you be screening?

A: It's a secret, handpicked by Quentin! There is no pre-show, doors close at 6, and we will start the show promptly.

PS: If you're a paying member, we have a community chat where you can submit questions for a Q&A portion the live event! Go ahead, check it out, and submit for a chance for your question to be answered by Quentin and Roger! This is the first time we are accepting questions not by snail mail. These questions will be shared in an Aftershow portion online after the event.

Phew. Let's get in to last week's movies. Over on Episode 211 we covered 3 classic films and we have tons of pictures to show of everything. First up, Quentin's latest obsession: The Last of the Mohicans.

Since taping the show, Quentin has accumulated many tapes of the movie. I don't have the pictures of them on hand (I'll grab pictures of them when we go record on Sunday). However, I do have a few cool artifacts he's collected.

His house is absolutely full of posters and memorabilia of The Last of the Mohicans -- and he even had a picture of the director of both The Last of the Mohicans and Kit Carson, George B. Seitz.

I'll post more pictures of his memorabilia in the next newsletter, plus something really special that he purchased and shared with Roger and I on mic.

When it comes to Northwest Passage, we had an original VHS from the Archives.

As you can see, this was tape 6552.

And for Kit Carson, we watched it on a print -- but Quentin picked up the cutest little beta tape after the fact. We'll talk about that more later, but for now, here's a few lobby cards of Kit Carson that Quentin picked up.

On next week's Aftershow newsletter, I'll share the rest of Quentin's memorabilia from this episode, along with pictures of the tapes I picked up.

Oh, speaking about next week's Aftershow. I already clued the chat in: but we'll finally be unlocking the Video Vault and uncovering a full conversation between Quentin and Roger that has yet to make it on the air. You guys wanted a clue, so here it is!

On next week's Aftershow, we'll be opening the Video Vault for a movie titled The Winner of 10 Academy Awards ... hey, wait, that's the working title!

Anyhow, I'll see you guys in next week's Aftershow -- and even though we'll be doing a live event on April 1st, we'll still have an episode coming out as scheduled that Tuesday ... so be on the lookout for a clue for a single movie episode that I'm super excited is being released.

xoxo gala
