Hashtag Basketball projections update (Notebook drop)
Added 2023-11-20 10:22:30 +0000 UTCTime for another notebook drop! Here’s the notable changes made:
Atlanta Hawks:
Jalen Johnson shot 63.1% from the free-throw line last season, but he has started the season shooting 72.8%. Have upped his projections to 71.9% (which is what he averaged in his rookie season) and also upped his 3PM to 1.3. Both updates also give his scoring a bump. Have lowered Clint Capela‘s rebounds by 1 and slightly increased his blocks.
Brooklyn Nets:
Have lowered Mikal Bridges minutes down from 35.6 to 34.1.
Boston Celtics:
Have lowered Jaylen Brown‘s minutes down to 34 and his FG% down to 47.1% - he’s shooting 46% for the season, down from 49.1% last season. Have increased Sam Hauser‘s minutes as he cements his role as a 3-point specialist off the bench.
Charlotte Hornets:
The return of Miles Bridges should result in a small dip in minutes for P.J. Washington and Gordon Hayward. Washington was still a fringe top-100 guy the season Bridges broke out in 21-22, so he still has value. I’ve upped Bridges minutes to 31.
Chicago Bulls:
Alex Caruso looks to be hitting 3s this year, so I’ve upped his 3PM from 0.9 to 1.5 and upped his FG% a touch. Both also have a positive impact on his scoring. DeMar DeRozan isn’t being as efficient from the field (which is tied to his small increase in 3PA) and line to start the season, so he gets a small dip in both %s.
Dallas Mavericks:
Tim Hardaway Jr continues his shooting streak, so I’m upping his scoring a little more.
Houston Rockets:
Added a minute and some usage to Alperen Sengün as he continues his strong start to the season.
Los Angeles Clippers:
Lowered Russell Westbrook‘s minutes as he moves to a bench role.
Memphis Grizzlies:
Increased the minutes of Santi Aldama and Jacob Gilyard when news of Marcus Smart’s injury broke. Will continue to monitor it until I get a better idea on how the minutes are getting distributed.
Miami Heat:
Upping Duncan Robinson‘s minutes a little more until Herro returns.
Milwaukee Bucks:
The minutes aren’t there for Khris Middleton right now, so I’m lowering them until we start seeing him hit 28+, but on a positive note, Brook Lopez‘s blocks are back.
New York Knicks:
Julius Randle‘s shot is kinda falling, so he gets a bump in FG%.
Oklahoma City Thunder:
Josh Giddey continues to lose minutes, so I’ve dropped his minutes by a few.
Washington Wizards:
Deni Avdija gets an uptick as his production continues to trend in the right direction.
