Hashtag Basketball projections update (Notebook drop)
Added 2023-12-04 10:17:21 +0000 UTCAnother week, another notebook drop! Here’s the notable changes made:
Atlanta Hawks:
Trae Young is currently averaging 0.5 more steals than his career high, and he’s showing signs of his 2021-22 season where he finished as the 7th ranked player. His scoring, FG%, and steals get an update.
Brooklyn Nets:
Upped Spencer Dinwiddie‘s minutes a little more with the news of Ben Simmons still a minimum of 2+ weeks away.
Charlotte Hornets:
Upped Terry Rozier‘s usage a little more, but it’ll drop once LaMelo returns. P.J. Washington is shooting 37% from the field in games without LaMelo, so I’ve lowered his projected FG% until he returns.
Chicago Bulls:
Zach LaVine, when he’s playing, is playing like a man who doesn’t want to be there. Have lowered his usage, and I’ve done the same for Nikola Vucevic. Coby White gets a temporary increase in minutes until LaVine returns.
Cleveland Cavaliers:
Added a rebound to Evan Mobley and lowered Caris LeVert‘s minutes with Donovan Mitchell back. Jarrett Allen‘s minutes are ramping back up, so I’ve now set them at 30.
Dallas Mavericks:
Grant Williams has cooled off after a good (at Grant Williams standards) start to the season. Have lowered his projected minutes played. Have upped Derrick Jones Jr.‘s minutes, but he’s still not rosterable unless you’re in deep leagues.
Detroit Pistons:
Detroit is such a hard team to get a solid read on, so expect the unexpected (aka. continued changes to their rotation). I’ve temporarily lowered Ausar Thompson‘s minutes a touch, but, like you, I’m hoping he’s back in the starting lineup soon.
Golden State Warriors:
Brandin Podziemski is finally getting minutes (was a fan of his heading into the draft) with CP3 and Payton out injured, and he’s doing well enough that it might stick. Whenever Golden State starts to struggle in the standings, they revert back to what they know works, which means we’ve been seeing less of Chris Paul with the first unit. They’re 2-5 in games he has started, and 6-5 in games he has come off the bench.
Indiana Pacers:
Indiana continues to be the highest scoring and fasted moving team in the NBA, so I’ve added more shot attempts to Tyrese Haliburton and Bruce Brown.
Los Angeles Clippers:
Bones Hyland is just about out of the rotation now. Have lowered his minutes to reflect that.
Memphis Grizzlies:
Have lowered Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr.‘s shooting %s, but I’m expecting them to jump back up once Ja returns.
Miami Heat:
Have added an extra shot attempt to Jimmy Butler as he starts to ramp things up again (he had a slow’ish start to last season as well, so this might be something to pay attention to for next season).
Milwaukee Bucks:
Added an extra assist and a small bump in FG% to Damian Lillard as it looks like he has gotten more comfortable in Milwaukee’s system.
Minnesota Timberwolves:
Upping Rudy Gobert‘s minutes as Minnesota looks comfortable playing him 30+ minutes again.
New York Knicks:
Julius Randle‘s shooting %s look to be ok’ish again. Have upped them back to his %s from last season.
Oklahoma City Thunder:
Jalen Williams‘ role on the offensive end continues to get bigger as Josh Giddey‘s continues to get smaller. Have adjusted both accordingly.
Orlando Magic:
Paolo Banchero is starting to clean up his shooting efficiency from the field, have upped his projections for it.
Portland Trailblazers:
Have lowered Scoot Henderson‘s numbers across the board until he starts showing signs of being a productive fantasy player. He’s showing small glimpses of being good, he just doesn’t look ready to lead a team just yet.
Chat soon,
Joey
