The Fox / LaVine / Chicago FRP trade (Notebook drop)

I guess this is becoming a daily thing until the trades stop dripping in?

Here’s the breakdown of the Fox / LaVine / Chicago’s first-round pick trade and how I've updated my projections.

Sacramento Kings

LaVine’s role in Sacramento looks pretty similar to Chicago (we’ve already seen him play next to DeRozan and a tall European white dude). Am projecting a small boost in assists for DeRozan, Monk, and Sabonis. Is Sacramento going to trade for a backup PG at the deadline? The Ellis stash doesn’t eventuate here unless Sacramento moves Monk to the bench.

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio got Fox without moving any big rotation pieces, so we’re looking at lower usage and minutes for a lot of guys (have also lowered Fox’s minutes by 1).

Am projecting a move to the bench / bench minutes for CP3. Vassell is no longer the number 2 guy (decent usage hit), Sochan becomes unrosterable (unless they plan to start him at PF), and Castle’s development arc takes a small hit (he was edging towards 30 minutes a night). For what it’s worth, I still think they’re going to focus on developing him, but there’s a cap that comes with adding a guy like Fox to the roster.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago now has a 34 minute per night high usage hole in their rotation, but a big part of the trade is getting their first-round pick back, which gives us an idea of the direction they’re heading into for the rest of the season (aka. they’re tanking and may not be done trading).

White, Dosunmu, Lonzo, and Giddey should all see usage bumps (like they have in the past few games without LaVine), with a focus on developing Buzelis (I’m expecting a bigger role as the rest of the season plays out). Am giving White the biggest scoring bump of the group given how well he played last season without LaVine. I’m not projecting anything more than bench minutes for Huerter, Jones, and Collins unless more trades are coming (Lonzo, Vuc).
