Hashtag Basketball is opening early!
Added 2025-08-05 13:03:53 +0000 UTCTurns out I get a lot more done when I'm able to work full-time hours on Hashtag! (still another 4 weeks before my leave from my 9-5 job finishes).
The good news is that I'm ahead of schedule, so, over the next few days, I'm going to start the process of updating the premium tools and archiving last season's imported leagues.
I've also made the first draft of my projections available on the league dashboard for premium subscribers (this includes those who are on the max offer plan!). I'll be doing a lot of adjusting, but I wanted to give y'all a sneak preview, so log into https://hashtagbasketball.com and take a look!
The projections are using the new GP Penalty feature when using per-game averages (there's an option to turn it off if you like). The GP Penalty works by applying a penalty to those players who are projected to play less than 50 games.
This will also be the first season where I'm not providing all of my projections on the free part of the website (the top 30 will be free, the rest will require a premium subscription). The good news is that, as a premium subscriber, there's less of a chance you'll be in a league against somebody using my free projections.
I kinda struggle with these decisions, and I know it'll annoy some people, but, for the sake of being fully transparent, the decision is based on trying to make this successful enough to do this full-time, and the general direction the internet and AI is heading (with Google now being unreliable in generating search traffic to smaller websites, AI tools getting a free pass to scrape everybody's data without compensating the websites it pulls data from etc).
PS. The ETA for the re-opening of the premium tools on Hashtag Basketball will be this weekend, but there's a good chance it'll be sooner. I'll write up a post when it's ready.
