UNCUT Semantic Error Ep 6 & 7 Reaction

I joined your Patreon just for this show because I adore it :) Sorry, if I only stay for a month or so (I wish I could afford to subscribe to more people) but anyways... A few fun things to note - "sunbae" is similar to "senpai" but there isn't any Japanese equivalent for "Hyung", which means "older brother" (like onii-san or aniki) but is also used for a male very close friend (or lover in BL stories) who is older than you. I guess it would be like calling your close friends, "Bro," but you'd never use it with just anyone. Oh, it is similar to "gege", which Hua Cheng uses for Xie Lian in Heaven Official's Blessing. A girl uses, "Oppa," which Jihye uses - "Sangchoo-oppa." Haha, "Lettuce older bro" just doesn't translate well, does it? Then Jaeyoung tells her she has to step it back and use, "Chu-ssi," (Mr. Chu) and not even use his first name. Jaeyoung is such a troll :) In the bar, Sangwoo says, "Yaja time." This is a game where everyone can drop the formal speech and the customary way a junior would talk to a senior. So Sangwoo can say Jaeyoung's name without any honorific and Jaeyoung plays along by calling Sangwoo, "Hyung," which is backward since he's the older one. This story is based on a novel (only partially fan-translated into English so far - ongoing) and there is a manhwa currently at about the same place as the novel. It's a lot less wholesome, lol, so they toned things down and smoothed out each character quite a lot for the show - but they did that without losing any of the essence of the characters or their dynamics. They really did an amazing job of adapting this story. Even though their budget and time was limited, it looks gorgeous, the story's pacing is incredibly well handled, and the changes they had to make never went too far out of line. And the casting was lucky. They have insanely good chemistry, both are decent actors despite being mainly idols (Jaeyoung's actor, Park Seoham, recently retired from his idol group before this was filmed) and they fit the descriptions of the characters as well - not easy to do. On top of that, BL is only just starting to make its way into K-dramas, though they've been producing some great BL manhwa for a while. LGBTQ+ rights are still way behind in most of Asia and it was risky for both the actors. But they nailed it and have gotten a ton of praise for the show, so it turned out well for them. And my god, that kiss in the bar! They really made out, rather than having one of those awkward, "press lips together while counting to three" types of kisses you see in most dramas - even the straight romance K-dramas have some really awful kiss scenes. Can't wait for you to watch the last episode! But since I have to wait, I think I'll binge some of your MDZS or HOB or Given reactions, since I can see them here uncut :)
