This BL belongs to a time when BL series' budgets were so low you wouldn't imagine. I know the first scene looks a bit weird with the parents reaction, but I guess they couldn't do much more than that. The guy Manaow runs into in her very first scene has a name, but nobody ever remembers it!! We call him Clark Kent XDDD

The friends group is the best and we call them the traffic light gang because of the color of their backpacks. I think the sudden sound cuts are because the episodes were originally released in 4 parts on YouTube, just like the GMM shows you have watched, and that is where the part ends. It doesn't feel so abrupt in that format with the little teaser for the next part added on, but when they put all the parts together like this, it is pretty weird. I can't wait to see your reactions to the next episodes, this one just keeps getting better as it goes on.
