Uncut Until We Meet Again 1x2 Reaction

Comments

1. I’m so, so excited you’re reacting to this show!!! It’s one of my favorite TV shows of all time and I was so thrilled when I saw it won the poll. It takes its time, but it’s incredibly beautiful and emotionally intense if one lets oneself engage with it emotionally. It’s a hell of a journey. 2. Something I think is super important to take from the first couple episodes and carry through the rest of the show is that Korn died thinking about how much he loves In and hoping that his death would free In to have a happy life. However, In died in absolute soul-crushing despair, having watched the love of his life die in front of his eyes and feeling that there was no longer anything to live for. So when Dean looks at Pharm, or gets a flood of emotion from his past life, he feels a strong sense of longing, love, and an urge to protect Pharm. But when Pharm looks at Dean, or gets a past-life flash (like in the supermarket), he feels an overwhelming sense of loss and despair, and a genuine sense of fear, bordering on panic. That’s what he was emphasizing to Team and Manaow in the classroom—he doesn’t feel nervous about meeting Dean the way anyone might feel nervous about approaching a cute guy; rather, the idea of meeting Dean literally terrifies him. This difference is a huuuuuuge part of the two characters’ respective characterization and reactions throughout the show, and I don’t think the show makes it clear enough. 3. I’m really glad you’re watching the Viki version. The lyrics that play over some of the scenes actually make the scenes much, much more emotional/beautiful, in my opinion, and the vast majority of reactors miss them because they’re not captioned in the YouTube version. Also it fixes a couple infamous translation mistakes from the YouTube captions that have historically caused reactors a great deal of confusion. 4. A funny Thai language thing—When Manaow implies that Team and Pharm would be a cute couple, what they say to her afterwards in Thai is “mai ao”, which means “I don’t want [it]”. But “ao” also has the slang meaning “to f**k”. So when Pharm and Team tell each other, “I don’t want you” “Well I don’t want you either”, it also sounds like “I wouldn’t f**k you” “Well I wouldn’t f**k you either”. 5. Also when you see Manaow listed on Facebook as “Lemon Lemon” or “Lemonade”, it’s because “manao” means “lemon” in Thai, which I think is super cute.

I guess you must have observed by now this series is extremely slow paced. I hope you're ok with that. Oooh, the famous supermarket scene that made us all sob!! T_T I honestly couldn't wait for you to see it! Both are amazing in that scene, specially Fluke (Pharm). Glad you noticed it! Thank you so so much!!
