The scene is definitely meant to illustrate an imbalance in attention and engagement - which, if frequent, can be a real issue. This particular change scene was meant more to illustrate how being changed has become second nature to Zee, but I think that's a really interesting analysis! I can imagine the two having a thoughtful conversation about how Zee staying engaged means Ash can get more out of the change and vice versa :3

The past few pages, I’ve just been thinking “Zee….what are you doing? You’re not even engaging Ash”.
It just seems this whole sequence is very one way…and that can be a problem in a relationship.
Since it’s a flashback…glad to see he is better with that (putting down the phone in “current time”).
Maybe that is where this whole sequence is going….
Maybe I’m over analyzing too :)
