Okay, so the whole you cant bend platinum actually makes since with this. We know that toph was basically bending the impurities in metal, now really the metal itself. Most metals will bond to other metals making them impure, but platinum doesn't bod with other metals, so if you make something out of platinum, it won't have impurities, meaning they cant be bent. Now getting that much platinum is a problem since it is 30 times rarer then gold, but that's something we can suspend our disbelief on.
