I've officially begun moving!
Added 2021-02-16 07:40:20 +0000 UTCExciting news everyone! The keys to the new lab space are officially in hand! Picked them up this afternoon. As of wednesday construction officially beings. First off will be repainting the place to be a nice filming studio, as well as some minor construction. There's a door in a less than ideal spot that needs to be relocated elsewhere on the room that will be the new biolab. Then it's on to electrial, hanging all the new lighting, and ordering and setting up all the equipment.
As we paint and begin to set the place up I'll be sure to share some pictures. This will be a very very serious upgrade, especially to the tools I normally have access to and will radically change the projects I'll be able to work on over the next couple years.
There are 5 main work areas in the new space. The first is a proper office so for the first time in literally years all my work can be contained to outside of my house. On a personal note this should mean I'll be able to actually relax properly once I get home and should help with burnout.
The next is a space for 3 things, robots, chem and electronics. This will be filled with various 3d printers, a laser cutter, and the bio robot, as well as various electronic tools, server and lots of other goodies.
Then there is the new machine shop which will finally give me the tools to make things properly. This means a proper lathe and finally access to a mill, as well as all the saws, cutters, benders, and more I will need. Next to the machine shop is the hot working room where the welder, kiln and other hot items will be kept. Partly this rounds out the machine shop but also opens up so many new and exciting things, and allows me to finish projects like the ongoing attempts to grow high quality rubies/sapphires.
A finally, one of my favorites is the new and improved bio lab. My suit of bio tools will be getting some upgrades, including a proper fricken set of pipettes which I cannot explain how excited I am for. But beyond pipettes, I'll be getting everything I need to not only do more intense microbe work, but mammalian cell culture equipment as well. This means projects like the neuron arrays are finally back on the table and I already have some wild projects planned.
The last bit of news is that I'll be launching a store hopefully in the next 6 months that will also be based out of the new space and we're working hard to get that up and running. I'll share more details about that as it develops.
Here's the list of project I currently have planned. Keep in mind these are just my notes so they may not make sense necessarily but I know what they mean and I promise they'll all be a lot of fun. It's a big list, and I have no idea what order I'll actually get to them, and some will likely get removed and replaced with others, but it'll give you an idea of what I'm thinking of.

2021-02-16 23:54:08 +0000 UTCNo they just didn't grow properly in the first place. Didn't get that far

2021-02-16 23:12:40 +0000 UTCWas originally planned as this months video and to be sponsored, but then the stupid microbes didn't grow, so it got shelved while I sort them out

2021-02-16 14:10:21 +0000 UTCI'll see what I can do. Might just be one big build montage, or it may be nothing depending on what I end up filming

2021-02-16 08:17:32 +0000 UTCTechnically it's 1500 sq ft, but there's an upstairs that i'm 99% sure wasn't counted in that estimate so it's a bit bigger

2021-02-16 08:15:56 +0000 UTCWow, that's an insane list of things to do π The new space must be huuuuge to have room for all that gear and ... stuff! I'm impressed, excited and looking forward to new videos - both about the process of setting up the new lab, as well as the projects you mentioned. Way to go! :)

2021-02-16 08:11:46 +0000 UTCI know it's probably a lot of work and maybe not your style, buuuut it would be super cool to see a couple videos going over random stuff that you're setting up or going to set up. Could even poorly edited and patreon only, might be incentive to get a couple more patrons. Just a suggestion and totally understand if not π
