MCM Memories and Shocking Shorts

Hi folks,

Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers!

It has been an incredibly busy and exciting week for the RQ team. To begin with, last Wednesday, we attended The Podcast Show in London, Europe’s biggest conference for podcast creators. It was fantastic to have Rusty Quill represented on two panels, with our COO, Hannah Brankin, chairing a panel on the boom in audio drama in the UK and our CCO, Callum Dougherty, speaking about longevity in independent podcasting, marking our tenth anniversary.

Then, on Sunday, it was MCM Comic Con London, where we had the opportunity to celebrate our decade of pocasts with you, our fans! It was wonderful to see so many of you there – a massive thank you to everyone who watched the panel and queued to see us at the meet and greet!

The right-hand photo is of the meet and greet. In the foreground, is the back of the panel: Martyn Pratt, James Ross, Helen Gould and April Sumner. In the background is the long queue of people waiting to meet them).

As part of the panel, Alex Newall, James Ross, Helen Gould and Martyn Pratt were each asked to bring something in that represented their time at Rusty Quill over the years, but it was Martyn’s item – kept secret from the others – that will be the most memorable!

Martyn Pratt is standing up, with his back to the audience showing off a pair of red shorts with the words “Ceaseless Watcher turn your gaze upon this wretched thing” printed on the back.)

It was truly wonderful to take the time to reminisce about where we started a decade ago and we hope that those of you who were able to attend enjoyed yourselves!

The panel was filmed by the organisers at MCM, however we don’t yet have access to it. If we are able to share a recording with you, we will let you know.

Our MCM appearance was just part of our year of celebrations for Rusty Quill’s tenth birthday. You can check out the rest of our upcoming events, and read more about the last ten years on our dedicated website: rq10.rustyquill.com

Have a good week all!
