Still Life, Part 2

As mentioned in the first post, I drew this while in a period of depression and creative block, and this story helped me out of it. It’s a bit morbid, but I was interested in the idea of finding creative inspiration in something ugly and terrible.
I showed this story to Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk, and his only note was that drowned corpses were usually big and bloated, unlike the body depicted here. Whoops! I don’t know how Chuck knows that, and maybe I don’t want to.

I like this and appreciate the motivation behind it, including finding inspiration in tragedy (real or fictional). Though, I wonder at what point is the artist just exploiting someone else's loss? 🤔
