Added 2024-01-23 17:30:17 +0000 UTCHere you’ll see the process for the original first page of this story - I was satisfied with it at the time but a couple of years later I realized that it didn’t quite capture the feeling that I wanted and I felt the town was lacking some of the authenticity that comes from using proper reference. I was making a lot of it up from memory - fitting since this is a story about a memory from my childhood - but I decided that it felt a bit weightless because of it. You’ll also notice that I changed the title and dropped the narrative boxes (they’re badly written). Process!
