ONE OK ROCK - Space Shower Retsuden 2011 Live Performance

Another very old, yet enjoyable ONE OK ROCK performance that really shows the foreground of where they started from! Cheers!

Could’ve been a little under the weather, but it’s very easy to sound really bad on a smaller PA system with no effects on the mic, and if you can’t hear yourself, it’s extremely difficult, if not impossible to constantly stay on pitch. I’m wanting to do their live shows in chronological order for the most part.

I think they slowed down because two members have kids now. and soon Toru will become a daddy too. you can't be away from home 24/7 when you have a family.

I believe was at a point where they were doing well over 100 shows a year, so I can imagine the chaos they must have been living. Even in the years leading up until COVID, they did about 100 concerts a year. Only in the past few years have they slowed things down a bit (they're nearly 40!). 2011 was right before Taka worked to change up his vocal style in my opinion. In 2013/14 concerts he sounds like his stamina and stability is much better!

Wow Taka sounds rough if not bad here, particularly in the first song, maybe the worst i've heard from him, he sounds unusually throaty, i doubt its just to do with stage monitors rather than IEMs, i'd guess he was sick or having a really bad off-day. i've never seen this before, looks like shinjuku loft where their 2009 Kanjo Effect (Emotion Effect) tour performance DVD was filmed. However taka sounds great in that concert 2 years earlier in the same venue, so mustn't be due to monitors but illness probably? this was also only 3 months after "This is my Budokan" which he sounds good in. Could just be fatigue from touring also. I'm surprised you haven't checked out the full concert of Mighty Long Fall at Yokohama Stadium from 2014, it's by far the bands most popular concert, the fan-uploads of that concert on youtube have over 140M views collectively which is pretty crazy for non-official releases. It has the band at arguably their tightest and a well balanced setlist with some cool stuff like an acoustic section. Taka is at his best during it also and the venue and energy are top notch. I'd say its the most essential OOR concert DVD and its availability on youtube is a big reason why OOR reactions on YouTube got as big as they are.
