2022-05-18 21:08:06 +0000 UTCAfter watching Picard and Discovery, I think the problem is that the writers are trying to write a serialized story that doesn’t work in episodic format. They are let down by the delivery system Paramount+ uses of delivering weekly episodes. The question is would the pacing and narrative work better if binged. Other shows that had overarching arcs their entire seasons worked (DS9, Babylon 5, 24, Doctor Who, etc) because each episode could stand on its own and still be part of the arc. I don’t think Discovery and Picard can say the same.
