Rhaenyra to put it bluntly, angers me. Why? She's impulsive, arrogant & entitled. While I don't mind the sex scenes. At times, she acts at the expense of others, especially Alicent, who rightfully called her out on her attitude & this led to their friendship dissolving. If Rhaenyra had dropped her flippant response, owned up to her actions & apologized to her, they'd still be together. If as friends at least. She says that she's the heir & she can do whatever she wants, well as the saying goes, we don't always get what we want. She doesn't want to get married because she's interested in pursuing her own pleasures & in her mind, Alicent & Laena would always be there for her to marry. Time doesn't wait for one person, other people's lives go on. As heir, she has to marry. It's not a choice she has, she can chose who to marry but it must be done! Rhaenyra isn't a child and she should know what her duties as heir require of her. Marriage is the greatest of these things, else her reign would be a pointless one. Yet she acts like a spoiled one, which would be a way to describe her at times. Now she plans to conquer Dorne? Good luck with that, even Aegon couldn't do that with the largest dragon alive & she needs the full backing of the Crown to do so. Even should she succeed, how does she plan to hold Dorne & keep them in check in the long run, given their history of resisting conquest? And she wants to conquer Essos as well? The main reason Valyria had a tight grip on the place was due to having many, many dragons, which House Targaryen only holds a fraction of! There's a very good reason why empires took a rather long time to create & this girl wants to do that? What I want to read is Rhaenyra being hold to account for once in her life & several doses of humble pie because she sorely needs/deserves it!
