Menat's hood
Added 2018-01-08 16:38:48 +0000 UTCI am very proud of how the hood came out. I used the hood portion from a Kigarumi pattern for the shape and extended the fabric out to a point for the neck. The black cotton is interfaced with a medium weight iron on fabric so that it could support the ears and gold applique. The gold applique is Gold 4 way stretch spandex attached to HeatNBond Ultra Hold. If you lay the spandex VERY flat and use the heat setting on high instead of medium with a piece of cotton in between the fabric and iron you can get a extremely smooth and tight bond. I hand drew the patterns out and carefully cut with sharp scissors for precise detailing. Appliqué also hand laid into position and ironed on using a Pressing ham on the curved portions. The ears are patterned out with paper and transferred onto green foam with the black cotton on top and hand stitched into place. This is definitely my favorite part of the costume! Next onto the shoes!
