Cu Wig Tutorial

Here is a tutorial on how I made Cu's wig from Fate Stay Night.  My future wig tutorials will be much more thorough, but I had these ones for now!  IF any of you have questions about techniques and how to do them, I will also make mini videos for you on our Facebook group that will hopefully help you visualize how to do something :D!  Hope you guys will enjoy, and most importantly, learn something :3!

1) The base wig I used was a Marty from Arda wigs in Blue-Indigo.  I wanted to use a lacefront for Cu instead of doing a glued hairline because I feel it would look more neat when it was on.  I also find if you do a glued hairline, you wont get that "Seamless" wig line, and as a result, will have shadows underneath.

2) The first thing I always do is brush out my wig.  I use a de tangling brush I bought from Walmart.  These things are amazing and cheap, so I highly suggest buying one!  They detangle long wigs good as well!

3) I straightened my wig with a flat iron before styling.  I find that if you dont flat iron your wig first (unless you are styling a curly/wavy wig), its very hard to do straight spikes.  It also makes your spikes neater when you decide to put product in it.  If you dont flat iron your wig, some hairs in the spike might not end up straight (youd have a few wavy hairs in a straight spike which bugs me!)

4) Plucking a hairline.  This is something I learned a while ago, but only started recently doing.  Some characters have some weird hairlines.  Cu in this case did not have a prominent widows peak, and also had straight sides.  I use a flat top tweezer, and I literally pluck out the front hairs to make a new wig line.  The wig lace is usually strong enough so that you dont tear the lace, but just make sure not to pull too hard.

If you are scared about eyeballing a hairline, I would suggest you draw on the hairline on your wig head as a template, and try to trace it through the lace.  If you need a video about how to pluck a hairline, let me know and I can do a mini tutorial :)

5) When you finish plucking your hairline, trim the lace off.  Try to not trim too close or else you might cut off some hairs, or mess up your wigline.

6) I took my ponytail attachment and attached it underneath the wig.  If you have a character that has a pony/rat tail (like Zen/Cu etc.), I find getting a short wig and attaching a ponytail is easier than trimming a super long wig.  I find the shorter wigs have an easier base to work with (I dont like to layer a long wig into a short wig), and I find them thicker compared to if you trimmed down a long wig as well.

7) I took some pieces from the front section to make his bangs.  I thought about glueing them in instead, but the lacefront made it look nice this way.  I crimped the top part of the bang so it would curve and fall closer to the face.

8) After that, I trimmed a bit of the wig (not that much) and just did some straight spikes.  I'll have a more thorough tutorial for this on my next wig.  I try not to use too much hairspray at this point because it would make the wig crusty on the top.  I put a very small amount of GOT2B glue on my fingers and work it into the wig.

The side parts I hairsprayed down and blowdried it so it would stay flat.

9) When wearing a lacefront, always glue your wig down!  A lot of people use spirit gum, but sometimes I feel like its not sticky enough to hold down the lace.  I mix it with a bit of cheap eyelash glue, and it doesnt move all day!  You can just peel it off you wig lace if it gets stuck, or use a make up wipe to get it off.

10) VOILA!!!!  Im fixing it a bit more, but overall im quite happy with it.  Let me know any questions you might have <3 .  Hope this helped you guys :3!!
