TBE Chapter 111

TBE Chapter 111

Ezekiel suddenly thought of the fact that decorating their house would be tedious. He turned to the salesman and asked him a question.

“The house address that I gave you was newly purchase. Don’t deliver them yet because it I think it would be best if we hire some cleaning professionals to thoroughly clean the whole place. Do you know of a business like that nearby?”

“Oh yes. It’s very common, but normally, only the very rich merchants or nobles hired them. Stay here, please, and I’ll talk to the owner of the store. His brother owns one of the cleaning groups here.”

“Before you go. Do you know of a professional that we can hire to decorate our whole house? Meaning, that he or she would be the ones buying the furniture that will suit the place.”

“Yes! Mr. Lamont’s company also provides that service. He’s the brother of this store’s owner!” the salesman said.

Ezekiel gave five silver coins to the man as a tip, who happily led them to a place where they could sit while waiting. While they did so, Robert, Luke, and Simon started entertaining themselves by reading one of the One Piece manga that he had purchased for his brothers. He didn’t even know that Robert brought some of them with him inside the backpack that he was wearing.

While they were waiting, Ezekiel thought of the plans that he would take next. At least with a professional interior designer, he wouldn’t have to bother himself with purchasing furniture for the whole house. Once they were settled in the house, he would have to consider the twins’ education. He would have to talk to Edward about that since he knew so little about the kingdom.

He also would think about what kind of business he could do in the shop that he was planning to buy. He wanted something that wouldn’t take a lot of his time. His original plan was to continue being a woodworker just like one of his favorite protagonists from one of his favorite fantasy series, penned by L.E. Modesitt Jr., which was The Saga of Recluce.

Then again, he had so many options because of his magic. The only problem was, he would need to make sure that the business he would open would have an explainable source of products. He couldn’t just keep producing spices without a source. At least with Edward the minstrel selling the spices, the minstrel had the expertise to create a believable back story where he received the products.

Soon, the salesman arrived, followed by a fat man and a beautiful lady. The fat man was dressed extravagantly and the woman looked like a secretary. Probably because she was wearing a pair of glasses and Ezekiel felt a little confuse when he saw the glasses. It felt like it was something that did not fit this world. That meant that technology was forward enough for eye glasses to have been invented.

“Good morning, sir. My name is Lamont, and this lady is Ms. Nedura. I own the largest cleaning company in this part of Lonmere,” The fat man introduced himself and his companion to Simon, who ignored them, which confused them.

“Good morning, Mr. Lamont. My name is Ezekiel, and I’m currently the head of our family. Please forgive Simon. He’s our guardian. I’m the one handling all of our family business,” Ezekiel told the man.

For a brief moment, the fat man and the lady was startled but they were indeed professional since after a few seconds, they had adjusted themselves and continued their conversation with Ezekiel.

Mr. Lamont knew the house that Ezekiel had purchased. That meant that they could already talk about the price for cleaning the whole house, including the yard, the front lawn, and the basement. The total was three gold coins, with Ezekiel needing to deposit a gold coin. He paid the fat man who gave him a receipt, then informed him that the whole place would be sparkling clean after three days. Ezekiel knew that he probably severely overpaid but he didn’t care anymore.

After that, Lamont left, leaving Ms. Nedura with them. Ezekiel talked about his requirements to the lady and after he was done describing everything that he needed, he told Ms. Nedura to add those she thought that the house could use.

Ezekiel then asked for the budget for the furnishing.

“I will need to inspect the manor first so I can choose the best furniture and decorations, but it would be better if you prepare around 50 to 70 gold coins. I will be charging a gold coin for my services.”

Ezekiel agreed and told Ms. Nedura the name of their inn so she could go there if she had any inquiries. He then gave the fashion designer, or whatever they call her profession in these parts of the world, a gold coin. He also informed the lady that they had purchased several beds and had paid for them already, but Ms. Nedura said that she would handle everything and would probably change the furniture that they had already selected.

Ezekiel then told the lady that he was also purchasing a store and would probably need her services for that establishment. Ms. Nedura smiled and said that she would do her best to make sure that he would be happy with the furniture that he would select.

The lady also gave her a receipt, and after that, Ezekiel felt relieved. He didn’t have to bother himself with purchasing the things they would need in the house. Money made their lives a lot easier, so he knew that before Edward left the town, he would have to work the man to make sure that they had a good amount of gold coins.

Ezekiel left the furniture happily with the salesman looking at him in awe. He realized then that it was probably because of his wealth and his age. It wasn’t normal for a young boy to handle the wealth of a rich house.

It wasn’t even noon when they returned to the inn. Since Robert and Luke were not allowed to explore the city, they settled in exploring the whole inn. Ezekiel knew that he would probably need to tip the inn soon because of the boys’ behavior.

Ezekiel heartlessly commanded Simon to look after the boys then he headed to his room to continue planning their next move. He did ask Simon and the boys to get him when it’s time to eat.

In his room, Ezekiel wrote the things that he could sell through Edward before the minstrel left the city, but if he was being honest, he couldn’t find anything that was more valuable and easier to sell as spices. After that, he thought of what business he could do using the store that he purchased, aside from the unique wooden arts and crafts. He could sneak in some expensive ones, like clocks, and some other things, like toys.

Then again, he would need to make sure that the business wouldn’t consume a lot of his time since it was just something that they could do to earn a little money while waiting to grow up and actually do the things that they wanted to do, like adventuring.

Ezekiel then thought of how to educate the boys. He still had no idea how to do something like that. Based on the novels that he had read, a young person would need to apprentice themselves to a professional after he or she reached a certain age. The young person would need to choose the profession they would like to do.

The boys still had a lot of time. Luke had just turned five years old last March, and Robert’s eight birthday was still a couple of weeks away, which was in July. Before he decided on anything, he would have to conduct a thorough research first and talk to the boys as well.

Ezekiel then thought of what he would do with their house. He would, of course, incorporate some modern technology like solar panels and generators so they could use modern equipment. That meant that the servants and guards they would hire would need to be discreet. He could show them his magic and threaten them with a curse, but before he did anything, it would be best to discuss it with the minstrel.

Once they had settled into their house and started living comfortably, Ezekiel would then explore Lonmere. He would research magic in this world and the adventurer's life. Edward mentioned that there were wizards in this world, so he would to know more about that since his brothers professed to wanting to learn magic and since he couldn’t teach them his magic, maybe he could help them in finding a magic teacher.

He could persuade his brothers to remain average normal people, but if they truly wanted to become something else, he wouldn’t stop them and use his power to make sure that they would succeed.

After he was done with his contemplation, Ezekiel wasted the next hour surfing the internet. Soon, the boys arrived at his room followed by Edward. They decided to eat in the room since everyone agreed that Ezekiel’s food was still the best. After lunch, he asked Robert and Luke to take a nap. At first, they didn’t want to, but the moment they lay down their heads on their pillows, the boys were asleep.

Ezekiel, Edward, and Simon then went to Edward’s room so they could talk without disturbing the kids.
