Like most of the other early colony complexes this small outpost is made out of modular units housing a dozen colonists or corporation professionals. The modules are pressurised so that they can maintain higher atmospheric pressure inside the buildings. These units are designed for thin atmospheres, so they do not have actual separate airlock units.
This colony outpost could be, for example, a small scientific station, archaeological station or geological research station. The modules are arranged to form a courtyard to protect the outpost from indigenous wild-life or natural hazards like sand storms.

I don’t usually use colors, but as I’m constantly trying to improve my skills, I decided to start working on color maps. I hope that at some point all of my maps would come also as color versions.
This map took much longer than usually to do, as it was very much learning new techniques or trying to find out the best practices for myself. I hope I can speed up the process over time, as now this is arduous and painfully slow.
A bit about the process. First I drew the lines with 0.3, 0.1 and 0.05 Neopiko fine-liner pens, scanned the drawing and cleaned it up a bit. Then a enlarged the picture to double size and drew the details with 0.1, 0.05 and 0.03 pens. Then I scanned the image one last time and vectored the lines. Finally I started to apply the colors and the textures.
You can find four different version of the map attached with this post and the files are also on Dropbox, HERE.
I hope you like the map.
