Today's shoot is of an OC you may not recognize...though she's not exactly new. Her name is Clara Thompson, and she is the origin of the spectre known as the Victorian Plague Doctor.

Working as a nurse in a busy hospital, Clara felt she had found her true calling. Though friends and family pressured her to give up her job and settle down, she found tending to the sick and wounded much more rewarding. She especially went out of her way to be a comfort to the sick children, and when asked why she didn't have any of her own, she simply replied that it was her duty to care for all children equally rather than put aside her important work to raise her own family.

She served the hospital well for many years, but her life was cut tragically short when she contracted smallpox and died of the disease. Feeling that her work was not yet finished, her spirit lingered in the halls of the hospital giving comfort to the dead and dying until the hospital finally closed and the walls around her turned to dust. Despite this, her restless spirit continued to roam the earth...

Since the advent of the smallpox vaccine, less people succumb to the disease that took her life. But when she learned that there are some modern parents who refuse to vaccinate their children, she gained a new mission, and manifested an eerie dark form to haunt and terrify those who she determines 'unfit parents', often standing by the bedsides of their children like a grim omen. But those lonely souls in transition between this world and the next will still see her as she lived - in her nurse's uniform, with her kind but scarred face beckoning them towards the afterlife.
