It is said that the West entrance to the ruins of the lost city of Volodor is guarded by a terrible monster that hides in the shadows of the Orchard of Bones. The orchard was once one of the beautiful underground fruit gardens of the Lost City, but now a large beast keeps its lair there in the tunnels under the orchard. Some say it is an ankheg and some say it is a carrion crawler, but nobody knows for sure.
As the orchard has been unattended for years and years, and this can be seen from how the fruit trees have grown and the vines have wildly covered the orchard walls. Ripe fruit hangs from the trees and bundles of sweet berries from the vines.
Long ago, the orchard had a beautiful glass roof, but now most of the glass is broken and fallen down to the orchard floor. Besides shards of broken glass, there are bits of bone and shreds of fur and hide everywhere. A quick investigation reveals that most of the bones belong to various birds or other small flying animals, but there are a few larger skeletons that look like the remains of a griffon and a pegasus. There are also a few humanoid skulls lying around.
