News & Updates

Hi all! I thought that I'll share some news and updates on what's going on and how my September looks like so far. 

A quick summary here:

• Weekly Patreon releases from now on.
• Some delay in delivering the PDF collections and the last maps for October.
• Map Archive post with list of releases finally being worked on.
• Old posts being updated to match the current tiers. 
• Paragon ($8) and Scout ($1) tiers  cancelled (neither had any patrons) 
• Discord had some permission issues. They should be fixed now. 

Planning & Scheduling

Recently I started using bullet journal of sorts and in a very short period of time this has changed my planning and working quite drastically.  I have much better understanding of my workload and I can prioritize and track tasks better. I'm still learning, but I can already see effects that will benefit Miska's Maps a lot. 

If you were supporting my work already in 2016 or so, you might remember that I was much more active in posting things on Patreon. I intend to return to that way of doing things. My plan is to make again weekly releases as it used to be. 

Right now I'm a bit behind my schedule due to some unexpected trouble with our bed (yes, our bed broke down :D ) and it took most of my planned work time for the Saturday to fix this issue. Unfortunately, this week there's a big anime and RPG convention which I'm attending as a vendor and I need to prepare things for that. In other words, it will take a few days to get the first PDF collection and October's missing maps finished. I have reserved time for those next week (unless I can carve out some time for those in the weekend). 

Mastemind tier supporters should get their commercial licenses by 3rd September. 

Map Archive

After looking into several different options, I have started working on a Map Archive post that will be linked on my Patreon page's overview. In this post I will list and link all of my maps released on Patreon. This should make finding a map considerably easier, than before. Getting this done will take a few days, but this is one of my priorities right now. 

I'm still considering what to do with PSDs and PDF Collections, but I'm working on a similar solution for those. I don't want to make a rushed decision which ends up in nasty surprises like in a few instances in the past.

Updating Old Posts

As the tier rewards were revised, some of the old posts do not quite match the current tiers. I have already made some changes to more recent maps, and more changes will come with the Map Archive(s). 

Paragon and Scout Tiers Cancelled

One of the nasty surprises was that - of course - the old posts with tier-based permissions did not update with the Paragon tier. In practice this means that I would need to update almost 200 posts just to include the tier permissions for the posts. On the other hand I do not have any Paragon tier patrons at the moment. So, I find it easier for now to cancel this tier and spread its perks between the Adventurer ($5) and Hero ($10) tiers. 

To clarify things further, I decided to cancel the Scout tier also. Like Paragon tier it did not have any patrons either. 

Changes made:

• PDF & POD discounts are now added to the Adventurer tier perks. 
• Layered PSD files are now included in the Hero tier perks. 

Discord

Recently I made some changes to Miska's Maps Discord server and there was a bit hassle involved. 

1) I added a few public channels and then made separate channels for patrons. 

2) Some time after making these changes, I realized that the permissions were not inherited as I expected and most of the patrons-only channels have been likely invisible to most of you. 

3) Permissions should be fixed now and you should see a number of channels under "Miska's Maps Patreon" category.
