Corona and some WIP maps

Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that I've been a bit busy with the COVID-19 situation in Finland. Here's a quick recap of the situation:

• The number of verified Coronavirus infections has been rising exponentially during the past week or so. 
• Last week we got a recommendation from my day job at Colossal Order to work remotely from home. 
• Because some of my family members belong to the risk group, we took kids to home school last Friday to reduce the risk of infection as we have kids in three different schools. 
• Yesterday the Finnish government gave an announcement that we are going to a national lockdown. Gatherings of over 10 people are prohibited, and remote work and social distancing are highly recommended. Visiting elderly people in rest homes and hospital visits are not allowed anymore. Schools and kindergartens will be closed for all except for the kids of persons working in critical job positions. Borders are closing. This is in effect until April 13th.  Interesting times. 
• And of course, people have been hoarding toilet paper.

What does this mean for me and you?

Now that things are settling down, this means that I will have 2 extra hours per weekday for other stuff than sitting on a bus and commuting between work and home. I'll be spending some of this extra time with the family, but I will have some more time for the maps too. 

New iPad

Last week I got myself a new 11" iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil. Thanks to you, I was able to afford this. I used to have the larger 12,9" model, but I did not like it. It felt bulky and the old Apple Pencil felt too slick against the screen. The smaller model fits my use much better and the 2nd gen pencil has a better feel. 

WIP line art maps

Speaking of the iPad I did a quick sketch of a crashlanded airship with it. I really like the feel and having Photoshop for iPad now is another thing that helps my workflow immensely. I expect this to speed up my map making, especially with the extra maps as I can skip the phase of scanning and cleaning up the image altogether.

Another WIP map I included is a secure bio lab layout. I thought it fits the times we are living :)
