Tiers updated
Added 2020-07-01 10:16:50 +0000 UTCHi everyone! I hope you all are safe and well.
I did some updates on my tiers. For the most part, these affect new patrons only and no actions are required from you. Summary of changes below after the foreword.
Why the Changes?
There are several reasons for these changes.
- First of all, as I revisited my tiers last time back in January it was a lot of guesswork. Now I know better what rewards are in higher demand and more useful than others and which ones are more or less extra work for me with little extra value to you – or at least takes too much effort from me in comparison to the benefits.
- The coronavirus changed a lot of things. Admittedly, I did not have so much experience in using maps online, but now I have started GMing and playing online regularly myself and grown a better understanding of what is useful and what are the requirements for VTT-ready maps.
- I felt that some tiers were a bit restrictive or unclear. I wanted to simplify the reward descriptions and what each tier offers.
Summary of Changes
Pretty much all tiers went through some changes. Some tiers changed their price point for the new patrons. Old patrons retain the old monthly price with the same benefits as described in the updated tier descriptions.
Here's a summary of the changes:
- Added a new tier for $1 per month. Cartographers get one map per month which is usually the first release of the month.
- The Explorer tier price point was changed from $2 per month to $3 for new patrons.
- Minimum maps per month for Explorer tiers raised from 2 to 3.
- Discord access was added for the Explorer tiers.
- Fantasy and Sci-fi Explorers now get all the maps listed under fantasy or sci-fi maps. Not 2 maps per month as before. I felt like this is a clearer option for all.
- Adventurer tier was mostly reworded and streamlined. No big changes.
- Dropped extra votes and credits rewards from Hero, Legendary, Immortal, and Epic tiers because of their low demand and perceived value.
- Legendary tier and commercial subscription was unpublished.
- Dropped regular PDF collections from Hero tier as they require very much work and serve only a minor fraction of my patrons (a bit more than 1% according to my survey)
- Changed custom maps from "B&W and color" maps to "small and large" custom maps for the Immortal and Epic tiers. I feel this makes more sense in the end.
Future Plans:
- In the future, I'm trying to get more collaborations done with music tracks and written adventures. These will be published as bonus content.
- I'm looking into the option to deliver my maps also as Dropbox downloads or DrivethruRPG copies on a monthly basis.
That's quite a few changes, but I feel these changes should make things easier for all and be more clear in what each tier offers. Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.
All the best,
Miska
